The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast is a well-regarded hotel, celebrated for its comfortably furnished rooms and modern decor. Nestled close to attractions, including a casino, shops, and the beach, it's a hit with guests, although the nearby casino isn't everyone's cup of tea.
While the hotel shines in cleanliness and offers a variety of dining options and an executive lounge, some visitors have been disappointed with the value for money and certain amenities like the pool and spa. Service experiences are mixed, with reports of both efficiency and sluggishness.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed 3 nights on the 18th floor. The room was comfortable, made to look a little smaller because of two enormous armchairs, and had a magnificent view, particularly of the city lights. Bathroom had a very roomy shower, with a rainshower head plus a hand-held wand option. Several other good points in the room like automatic night-lights, a real door to the bathroom (not a sliding-door, my pet hate), coffee pod machine, light switch on the inside of the bathroom, free wi-fi, excellent king bed. The curtains and blinds had automatic switches, which was fun. Only downside for me was the compendium, room service menu and breakfast menu were just a QR code (scan to read) which is a problem for me as I do not have a smartphone. However, the concierge will give you a printed copy if you ask. There were plenty of dining options, we ate at 3 different restaurants within the hotel complex plus lunch at the café/bar. All the staff, at reception, concierge desk, restaurants, and other hotel employees, were very efficient and friendly. An easy ten minute walk to a street with convenience shops, or to the tram stop.

Stayed on the 18th floor in a "TERRACE SUITE" at around $900.00 per night on average and was disappointed to say the least. The standard of the room and the cleaning was very average, felt tired and dirty. Given the amount of money they charge per night one can rightly expect much better not just a nice view. On a positive point the location was good and whilst we had a vehicle we found walking to the beach and shops easy. Conclusion, i could not recommended this property based on value for money.

We come to the Gold Coast most years for our wedding anniversary and because we missed last year decided to splash out a little on a stay at the Star, we had read good reviews and were very excited. Usually stay at the Sofitel on Broadbeach so used to a five star experience.
We arrived quite early on a Friday at the end of August, we had complementary valet parking and the staff managing this were amazing, always friendly and very attentive, never had to wait long for our car when going out.
We went up to check in and of course our room was not ready so we left our details and they would call us when it was, we went down stairs for some lunch, only to be told it was a public holiday and there was a 15% surcharge, so we went to join the Star Club so we could get 10% off, their system was Dow so was told to wait 20 or so minutes. It was a full day before we were able to sign up, this was the first of many cock ups.
We were called at about 2 pm to say our room was ready, when I booked had asked for a nice view of the ocean and a balcony as it was our 30th wedding anniversary, while the room was nice enough on the 19th floor it had neither, I rang and questioned if it was possible and they said that their systems were also down so could not see on the computer if it was so would have to remain in the room allocated, we were given free drink vouchers but only for one specific drink. We were not told about the executive lounge at all nor about our $50 per night room credit. A couple,e of times we attempted to access level 21 where we were told by one of the housekeeping staff it was located but we could not get to level 21. On our second night (of three nights) we went to reception to find out why and they said we had been given the wrong card.
Our first night we went for dinner in the casino and were told we could not charge our food to our room as there systems were down, so we went to reception to ask how we were supposed to access our $50 room credit, the person at reception was rather heartless and said we had to use it by midnight each night or it would be forfeit, of course I said “how are we supposed to do that if we cannot charge anything to our room?” She just apologised and that was that.
We did manage to redeem our $50 that night at the Garden room where we had a drink and some dessert later that evening, the staff there were amazing, as was their food.
Over all the hotel was nice enough and very busy but would never go back there, we found the staff at the hotel reception to be rather rude and uncaring, we understood that the circumstances were out of their control, but a bit more care for the paying customers would have been well received.

I booked a wheelchair accessible room for my family and were then contacted to be told that the only sort of wheelchair accessible room the hotel had was one that only had 1 bed and could not fit even an additional rollaway bed. When I pointed out that this was discriminating against families with disabled people I was told I could pay another $300 a night for second room that my daughter could sleep in. So the hotel expects families with a disabled parent to leave their children unsupervised in a different room and pay twice as much as everyone else would for a hotel room. I suggested that the hotel should provide a second room for free and that I would sleep in the second room while my wife and daughter shared the disabled room (even though my wife really needs my assistance) but I was told the best they would do is offer a 10% discount on the 2nd room. It's disgraceful.

Booked 3 rooms for a family birthday and 9 adults at Harvest Seafood Buffet, add alcohol and gambling… it wasn’t a cheap night out! Approx $3000, maybe a little more all together.
Getting into the car park was the easy part, and then it was grid locked and no one moved for 10-15mins. Parking was additional to each room at $20 per night.
Check in went well and I was offered a special surprise to be delivered to my daughter for her birthday. I shouldn’t have even told her, because it didn’t happen and the only explanation was “Sorry we reached our quota for the week.” Not sure what that means, but pretty appalling to offer someone a free gift and then not deliver!
Harvest Seafood Buffet, although it had a huge variety of food, the quality and taste was disappointing (on a good note, soft drinks were FREE surprisingly).
I can’t fault the room, it was clean, tidy and spacious enough to move around and it was furnished nicely. I just wish it had a spa bath.
They offer 2 outdoor spas, but one was out of action (drained and closed), while the other was so hot you could have boiled an egg. I wish I had a thermometer, as I couldn’t get in it. Being winter the pools were too cold to actually swim, but the square one up near the spas you could at least put your legs in, so it wasn’t a total waste going down there in my swimwear.
All in all, for the price and experience I personally don’t recommend it and won’t stay again. There are by far, much better places to stay and eat at on the Gold Coast, with amenities you can actually enjoy.

This rating is purely for housekeeping. The ladies at reception desk and staff who served us at the Harvest and The Garden were fabulous!
I've stayed at The Star Gold Coast many times before and it has never been this bad! The toilet seat had stains when we checked in but because my friend really needed to use the toilet, we just wiped it with our own santising wipes instead of asking house keeping to come and clean it.
We left the room around 10am the next day and switched on the 'please make my room' light. When we got back at 3:40pm, the room was not cleaned. I called house keeping and was told they can come and service the room in 15 minutes. We left the room to go to the pool and when we got back after 1.5 hour, the bed was made and the bins were emptied but nothing else was cleaned or refilled! Towels remained on the shower floor, shampoo conditioner were emptied etc. I complained to reception desk and the lady said she will notify housekeeping to clean the room asap.
Surprise surprise, the room was still not cleaned at 8:30pm! Called reception who sincerely apologised but said housekeeping has finished for the day but can send someone to give us new towels, coffee etc. When the gentlemen arrived, I had to request him to take the towels away as he said he is not the cleaner. When I asked if we can get some new cups, we were gob smacked by the the reply 'We are out of cups'! Seriously? A 5 star hotel is out of cups?
I was told by 4 different people throughout my stay that they will notify the supervisor of housekeeping know about my experience. I hope they will rectify the service/staffing issue asap so other people don't have to expereince the same frustration as I did.

My daughter and I were so excited to be going to the Priscilla Queen of the desert production and booked a room for $470 a night so very excited! Right from word go we arrived and I left my adult daughter in a running car fir aircon whilst I went into reservations, the line up was so large to check in I didn't get back to the car for 45 minutes which caused me anxiety as I didn't feel I needed to take my phone as no idea I'd be this long so I couldn't advise my daughter about what was going on and once I realised it might be a while the line up behind me was twice as long so I didn't want to loose my place. I found out later she thought something may have happened but couldn't leave the car. So once we got up to the room we were less excited and then I saw a very ordinary room with a tiny bathroom not what I was expecting for the money at all, I have stayed on the coast for alot less in truly beautiful rooms. If it was priced around the $250 mark I probably would still be disappointed, but the room was clean and modern but 2 little cups 2 glasses no microwave nothing but absolute basics. Couldn't get in to eat prior to the production so ordered from a very basic room service only a few items to choose from and they had the check to charge $6 to deliver the overpriced food! The production was fabulous and all staff were lovely they were the only good things about the stay.... I would only recommend the Star Casino Hotel if you want to watse your money and ok to settle for a Beige stay I being kind by giving it 3 stars and this is for location, staff and production definitely not value for money shop around and just get an uber to there.

Beautiful hotel. Great location and walking distance to the mall pacific fair. Room sizes are adequate, the bathroom though well equipped was quite small. I also found the rooms quite dark and not well lit.
The gym, spa and pool were excellent. There was always music and entertainment near the pool which was great and a large kids pool.
The staff were friendly and excellent.
The garden restaurant and cucina were excellent but you must book in advance. The buffet breakfast was just ok and nothing special.
You have to request cleaning for your room and we would request it but most times the room would still not be cleaned by 3-4 pm which was frustrating.
Other than that I would recommend!

Stayed for a night on a discounted rates as a Star Club member. The deal made it worthwhile for a night out, with dinner, entertainment and a few drinks without the worry of travelling home or trying to catch an Uber or the like.
The room was a standard twin room that offered a great level of quality and opulence. The beds were really comfortable to go with the room that was spacious and gave a feeling of quality. Didn’t get the chance to use the gym or pool area, but these would be an added bonus to use during an overnight stay.

Great location but needs some improvements.
Understand it’s holiday time but 40 minutes to check into a room with no apology.
Then the room we were given gave us a lovely view of a roof and rubbish. We were paying $700 a night so I was pretty shocked.
The buffet breakfast was pretty mediocre understand at $25/head it it cheap but it wasn’t worth the money for what was on offer
We ended up having to going to the coffee shop on the ground floor due to my family still being hungry.

There is a lounge on the executive level. Not sure what it is like.
