Family of 4 stayed here for 9 nights at the end of April. The apartment was spacious and had everything to make our stay comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was amazing, large, deep and heated and also an adjoining spa which was very warm...perfect! Parking very convenient with direct access to the apartment. Location was fantastic, 3 mini walk to Broadbeach strip and 5 mins from Woolworths. Overall a fantastic, relaxing stay and we will surely be back when we're on the Gold Coast again.

We were 3x girlfriends travelling for the Blues on Broadbeach music festival.
The location was absolutely superb, only a 3-minute walk to Surf Parade, the start of the restaurant and festival space. Easy walking access to the Oasis Shopping Complex, Victoria Park and the beach for shopping and festival events.
We booked a 3x bedroom apartment and enjoyed that. Plenty of space, a good kitchen if required (we ate out the whole stay). There was a washing machine and dryer too in the downstairs bathroom.
No lifts, but that was advised at the time of booking - no drama, as the complex is three stories. Great communications with Kirsty - a treasure!
The outside pool and heated spa were a delight and the grounds were immaculate.
Would recommend!

We have stayed here before and loved our stay with our family which was 1.5yrs ago. We had a 2 bed 2 bath apartment (a different one) that was great again and everyone we spoke to pool side said the same. It seems to be that a lot of the holiday let apartments have been renovated since our last visit and the gardens and upkeep of the complex looked beautiful. (Even noticed the spa area had been re done and looks great) Management were great and very friendly. (I think it was Rochelle and Tony) Amazing location to everything, restaurants, Surfclub, Bowls Club, Pacific Fair, Beach (that has a walkway straight up to a flagged patrolled beach just at the end of the complex)
Thank you again for your hospitality.

We had a fantastic stay here for 7 days. The apartment that we had was extremely spacious for a family of 5 and had everything that we needed. Shops such as Woolworths was an easy and quick walk, maybe about 5 minutes away along with loads of restaurants. The beach is also a short walk.

The bbq’s on site near the pool are clean and free to use. The pool is lovely and the heated spa was also great.

Pacific Fair shopping centre also only 5 minutes away by car.

I’d definitely recommend this property.

Nice location central to everything you could possibly need for a holiday on a budget. Room and ensuite were clean minus the expected dust. Bed wasn't too comfy, however you don't expect hotel quality at budget accomadation. Management were friendly, polite and very helpful on my departure. I'll definitely return for a short stay. Please note: If you don't like climbing stairs then these apartments aren't for you.
Room was not booked by me. I stayed in Room 48.

Great room with two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Queen bed and 2 singles. We stayed on the lower level (room 6). Very clean and fairly modern. Lovely owner Kirsty was a dream to deal with. On site parking. I'd certainly stay again and recommend. Walking distance to Pacific Fair, Casino, Dracula's, Broadbeach Mall, Surfers etc.

We had a terrible time here. Apartment was filthy, no vacuum in apartment to do yourself. It actually looked like carpets hadn't been vacuumed in months and never steam cleaned. Bathrooms disgusting. Female manager is very rude and abrupt, made me cry actual tears multiple times. Male manager very nice and tries his best but we had to wait over a week for dishwasher to be fixed, over 2 weeks for dryer to be fixed and if we were still there we'd still be waiting for tv remote to be fixed. A lot of money for very little.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience with us was below standard. Before we allow a guest into an apartment they are professionally cleaned by our contracted cleaning company and on the day of arrival the maintenance person checks every unit to make sure it is clean, neat and tidy. Every apartment has amenities/appliances that are conducive to self containment and when we are made aware of inconsistencies we endeavour to repair/respond to the guest concern. I would like to apologise for the inconvenience of the dishwasher and dryer however let me explain. Maintenance advised front reception of the situation. I personally went to the hardware store to purchase the new dishwasher for the unit as no “tradie” was available due to school/public holidays. I then advised the “tradie” that I had the dishwasher and to come and install and to also bring the part for the dryer but they were very reluctant, once again, due to holidays. I did my very best for you as a Manager to make you feel welcome and comfortable and of course I am disappointed that you felt uncomfortable with me, my apologies once again. Many thanks for advising of the small accident in the car park, you didn’t have to report it but we were glad that you did, no damage was done.

We stayed for a week in unit 34. I would not stay in this unit again.
Great things about Markham Court
* the staff - honestly, they're brilliant. Helpful, friendly - you couldn't ask for more.
* the location - walk to pacific fair, and all the other shopping centres. Don't believe what you see on google maps. It's about 2 minute walk to the main area on broadbeach, you would do it in googles time with a zimmer frame and a ventilator.
* the pool (but read below)
* the people that stay there - seem friendly and polite.

Now for the bad,
There is nobody to meet you when you arrive in the middle of the night. Your keys are in a safe in reception, you let yourself in to reception and collect your keys. THis isn't a problem unless your travel agent hasn't told you. Well worth asking for the code via email if you've not been told. If it wasn't for the transport shuttle driver calling from outside, we would have been sat outside until morning. THis isn't the management fault but is a let down in the chain of communicaiton somewhere.

The room: At first glance everything was good when you were jetlagged.
We asked to be by the pool and were accommodated. Unit 34 doens't look like it's been cleaned properly since the place was built. The place stunk of smoke though my husband couldn't smell it. THe sofa looked great but you sank in to it and hit the wooden beam at the back and the whole things smelt of sweaty bodies. All the door frame paint is chipped, the runners for the ranch sliders are filthy, windows are dirty, there are cigerette butts on the front and back balcony,The filter in the washing machine was gross, the ceiling fans had layers of dust on them, visible from the bed without my glasses. The curtains were stained on the front and mouldy on the back. THe telephone button that opens the door was so thick with grease that it was yellow like earwax. There are no center lights in the bedrooms, only bedside lamps. the multi plug next to the childrens bed has exposed wiringThe superficial cleaning of bath, floor toilets and showers was great. EVERYTHING that required a more details clean wasn't done and hasn't been cleaned in years. Main bed (double) was great but hubby thought was too hard. Kids beds in the 2nd room were so awful that my 13 year old said he thought he'd broken his back sleeping on the,. Sit on them and the whole thing buckled in the middle. We got friendly with the family in unit 35 and invited them in to have a look, they were gobsmacked. Their unit was like a 5 star hotel so that's where I'll stay next time.

The pool: mmm, lovely at first glance. I was watching my kids swim around in it on our first day and asked my son about the tiles near the top of the pool. He said they were a different colour (the water lever was about 1.5 tiles below. On my last day I went in the pool with the kids only to discover that it wasn't a different colour, it was thick with scum from bodies. Someone had even scratched the words clean me in to it.

So in short, I wanted to love it because the place has so much potential. THe management are great and can't make the owners update their apartments but 34 has got them this review. I hope that the owners take on board the comments and consider sending a decent cleaning crew through every 3 months.
Unit 34 probably hasn't been renovated or cleaned properly since it was built

Many thanks for this elaborated review. We understand that it is impossible to please everyone and we urge people to view all of our reviews. Most of them are very complimentary. We wished that you had raised the issues during your stay as we could have solved all of them. The only comment you made was that the sofa smelled of sweat. The sofa is Microsuede and was professionally cleaned two weeks prior to your stay. Will try to respond to some of your comments some of which are very unfair, not all belonged to our resort. For example the garden bed you took a picture off is not our property but belongs to the resort behind us. We understand that you made acquaintance with the guests from the Unit next door to you and believed it to be of higher standard then yours. Nearly all of our Units have been updated, some are even nicer then the Unit which impressed you so much. We are a 3.5 star Resort but we agree that most of our Units could be compared to 5 star. Difference is that our prices are a lot more competitive and we offer good value for money. Your booking was a discounted one you had a special deal on top. Most Resorts (unless 5 star) use an after hour service and you would have been advised on this by your travel agent. We have signs in reception for after hours guests so we do not understand how you could not see them. No complaint was made on the cleaning issues of the Unit. If you had done so we could have moved you into another Unit or we could have send the cleaners back in. The Units was cleaned before you checked in and we will be taken up some of the issues you mentioned with the company we use. We outsource the cleaning and we will find out as to why a few area's were not cleaned as per scope of works. All the fans have been replaced as was planned after your arrival. Cleaners were aware of this so they may have been a misunderstanding as to why they did not clean the fans. We could have replaced these during your stay. The pool and spa area are cleaned every day seven days a week. The spa water is replaced every day. The chemicals are checked daily by us, weekly by a professional company and the Council also does random checks. The spa is very popular as it is heated at 35 degrees Celsius. Sometimes we have six people sitting in the spa, they often have sunscreen on, which leaves an oily residue and some guests put even soap in the water. Unless notified during the day, we can not stop people writing dirty on the sunscreen residue on the wall ad then taken a zoomed in picture as proof that the spa is not clean. The cigarette butts you took pictures off must have come from the units above you. We ask people not to smoke in the rooms, they can smoke on the balcony but should use the ashtrays provided. The cigarette butt's would have cleaned up by the cleaners after your departure. Inside windows are cleaned by the cleaners, outside windows are cleaned by professional window cleaners. You mentioned that you might return and stay in Unit 35. We would prefer you to choose a different Resort. We expect people, if for whatever reason they are unhappy about their Unit, to complain to Management to give us a chance to rectify whatever the issue is. You did not give us this opportunity and preferred to complain afterwards.

Our room was very old and the smell of bleach when we walked in was very overpowering. I later new why this was the case the sink and dishwasher had a rotten smell in them and for the whole week there we could smell it. It was through the air-con and all our clothing smelt from it. :(

We did ask to be moved but the lady just said she was booked out over the week-end coming!!! We arrived Monday and no one near us until Friday. So this was very dissapointing.

The photo's advertising the apartments/rooms are nothing like the pictures online.. Nothing like old run down room we had:( It really needs so major work on the rooms to make them comfy especially when you are there for a week or so...

The doors and windows had little or no blinds/ curtains in our room and the main bedroom the curtain was to short and didn't cover the window and there was a walk way all around the buildings and you could look into the room!!!!

I hated coming back to the room every day with my family and the smell made us dry reach and I never felt clean the whole time we stayed in the room:(

On a positive note the grounds are nice and the outside look is nice, and it is central to shops etc....But I will never stay there again.

Many thanks for this feedback and we are very sorry that your stay with us was not to your satisfaction. No complaint was made to Management regarding the smell of bleach, dishwasher, blinds etc.. about the Unit you stayed in. A request was made to be moved but the Resort was definitely fully booked as explained to you and sadly we were unable to move you to another Unit. PLease bare in mind that not all Units at Markham Court are in the Holiday Letting Pool. We use an outside agency to clean the Units and they are not allowed to use Bleach. Many thanks for your kind words on the grounds. We work very hard to keep these looking good. Most of the feedback we receive is good and we are sorry that we were unable to make your stay a good one.
