The Mantra Sierra Grand is located close to the Broadbeach South light rail station, Pacific Fair and the Casino as well as a short walk to the beach and the Oasis Centre in Broadbeach.

The public areas are all very well kept and the Resort has a full size tennis court, good sized pool and spa, indoor pool and a theatre room. The pool area was well kept and maintenance to the paved areas was being undertaken.

Negatives

As an Accor plus silver member I booked my 1 bedroom apartment via the Accor Plus website. When I booked there was no option to select ocean view so I put in a request directly for an ocean view apartment. I believe most of the one bedrooms are at the back overlooking the Gold Coast Highway with glimpses towards the ocean from the balcony. Our room overlooked the Highway with the balcony overlooking the neighbouring resort and towards the ocean.

The apartment was an odd shape and very poorly maintained. Cracks and scuffs on the walls. Cracked tiles, dust in the corners. The shower was dirty and mouldy. It really needed a good clean.

We arrived about an hour early and requested an early check in. The room wasn’t ready but they called me when it was. When we arrived a sheet had been left soaking in the washing machine but staff came to remove it. Even though I checked in slightly early I don’t think this excuses the state of the apartment in terms of cleanliness.

The bed was comfortable and a full size king bed (not a split).

Overall I had quite a disappointing stay as I chose the apartment due to my Accor Plus membership and the location. I probably wouldn’t stay again but if you do decide to stay perhaps book a 2 bedroom ocean view and ask for a refurbished apartment.

We appreciate your kind commends regarding our ideal location, extensive resort facilities and your comfortable bedding - there is certainly nothing better than a goods night sleep! I can confirm that all of the 1 bedroom apartments within the resort offer beautiful hinterland views, none of these unfortunately face the ocean. For a guaranteed ocean view, we offer this room type in our 2 and 3 bedroom ocean view apartments. Although our 1 bedrooms do face west, it was nice to read that you were at least able to see a glimpse of the ocean from your balcony. I am sorry to read of your concerns regarding the housekeeping service to your apartment. Please be assured that we have raised this with our Housekeeping Manager and will be attended to ensure that the expected quality level in our apartments is upheld. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused and have my assurance that this will be addressed. Easy walk to the Pacific Fair shopping centre, Star Casino, Dracula's cabaret and Broadbeach restaurants. Only a short walk to the beach as well. Apartments have adequate facilities for cooking and laundry if you want to self cater on your holiday. The decor is a little boring but it is comfortable and has everything you need. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was already on when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The bathroom in a one bedroom was small and only had the basic amenities, body lotion, face washers and tissues would have been appreciated. There is an outdoor as well as an indoor pool and a decent gym. Strong chlorine smell is a bit off putting but at least it is obviously clean. Nice staff however we did have to request the wifi password even though we booked in with Mantra plus. All in all a decent hotel and very suitable for families as well as couples.

The Sierra Grand is in a great position within walking distance to everything. The room we stayed in was well appointed with great views of the Gold Coast. However we were disappointed with the cleanliness, Dinning and Coffee tables were dirty with cup stains and a dirty kitchen floor when you pay over $200 a night it should be better.

I travel a lot and can excuse quite a lot of things, but not 7 cockroaches over a 4 night stay is not one. Unfortunately, since the hotel reception is not manned 24/7 and all my encounters happened outside reception hours, I could not call anyone to come to my room/apartment. I did take photo and video evidence as proof. On the night before I left, I could finally get to the front desk to explain what happened. I pulled them aside and discreetly explained my experience. They were mortified! They wanted to move me but I was going to be out for the evening and leaving very early the next day so there was no point in my opinion. They would send someone up while I was out to spray and look around. I said thank you and mentioned a possible discount on my final bill as compensation. I have not received the bill and no discount off my stay which was at full market value as there was a problem with my booking from my company's travel agent.

Unfortunately at the time of your stay the Gold Coast was experiencing extreme weather with high humidity and torrential rain. Please be assured that we do take a very proactive management of the bug life experienced here on the Gold Coast to mitigate any concerns to our guests. All rooms are treated by pest control twice yearly and inspected routinely to ensure their effect is minimised. Booked 2 bedroom initially and upon updating number of guests somehow booking changed to 1 bedroom. No 2 bedroom left upon arrival so we opted to pay quite a bit of additional payment to go into the 3 bedroom. Service was good at reception, lady was lovely and polite. Stayed here previously and enjoyed the location. This time however, we noticed the apartment is very extremely dated and not in the best state. Furnitures are worn and chipped, dining chairs were creaking. A visiting friend was sitting on one of the dining chairs and it actually caved inwards and broke. Luckily he did not injure himself. The couch and carpet was not in good condition at all. Overall really needed a bit of work. Cleanliness was not the best either, tissues left from previous guests can be found between the bed and bedside table, some hair on the shower wall. The sliding doors to the balcony were so dirty and have not been cleaned for a long time, we can barely see outside. We still enjoyed our stay as we like the location but probably will not return until it has been updated a bit.

The staff have been lovely to deal with, however the level of cleanliness in our room is absolutely atrocious. I wish we could change hotels. Definitely will never book here.
Our room had very obviously used towels when we checked in. They had a face imprints and makeup on them.
We also didn’t have any hand soap. I requested some and was told that they didn’t have any left and instead gave me body wash….
The hand sanitising machines downstairs are also empty.
My bathroom smells strongly of urine. I explained this to the hotel staff, who promptly sent someone to clean my room- which I appreciate. Though I question whether this room has ever been properly cleaned.
The walls are filthy, the floor is filth, the appliances are filthy. I’d rather die than use this shower. The kitchen is filthy. They should have just upgraded me to a newer- cleaner room as soon as I told them about the used towels- and showed them proof, though I wasn’t offered.

Generally a great place to stay. Great location and facilities, just a little more attention to detail in the apartment, such as cleanliness and functioning equipment would make it perfect. Friendly staff. Would recommend a stay at the Sierra Grand.

We have stayed at this resort before and it was great. Unfortunately this time it was very disappointing during our stay in December 19. We have already submitted a survey to Mantra regarding our recent stay and they are aware of some problems we encountered. Sierra Grand is in a great location but we feel now it has to be updated. Please check with the property that your bedding requests are fulfilled before arriving as this can effect your stay. The property could benefit from a better clean both inside and the outside pool areas.
We must thank Alesandro the maintenance gentleman who really tried to assist us.
Sadly we would not consider returning to this property .

Sun streams through windows at 5 am. There are no blackout blinds, just cheap ones.
Carpets were filthy.
Furniture was tired and damaged.
Taking a $200 dollar bond is a joke, there isn't anything worth $200 in the apartment.
Only sheets on the bed, no doonahs or blankets and the blankets in the wardrobe are filthy and stained.
The kitchen exhaust hood was broken.
In fact there were so many things that needed replacing.
The sauna, when it was working was in the indoor pool area which was always occupied by what looked like underage, unsupervised children resulting in a deafening cacophony of noise. This area should be adults only.

We have stayed in various Mantra properties around Australia and never stayed in a property this bad.
We will not be returning and we are thinking of cancelling our next booking in Maloolabah in April, we do not want to stay in anywhere resembling this experience.

Easy to access with the car on arrival, and then just leave it in the car park. The location was fantastic, being able to walk to a cafe for breakfast, or the tram to head into Surfers Paradise, or across the bridge to Pacific Fair and even restaurants downstairs. The staff were super friendly and got us checked in and out without any fuss. The room was spacious and reasonably well appointed. Cleanliness was sub-par with the bathrooms lacking attention to detail such as soap stuck to the bench top and dusty wall tiles. The room boasted ocean views, however, very difficult to see through the dirty, hazy windows. The TV lacked any smart functionality and the wi-fi was intermittent and slow. The fridge had an error which resulted in loud beeping when the doors were opened. The issue was known as a label had been put on the door that pressing a button stops the beeping. Not ideal with sleeping children. There seemed to be a lot of noise at night from the road, even on the 20th floor. The pool was a pleasant temperature considering the time of you. Unfortunately the spa was out of service for a renovation. Overall a pleasant stay apart from those issues with the room.

Yes, both bedrooms have air conditioning, and it worked really well. It was not at all noisy either.
