Since we last stayed here the dining room has become a very pleasant circular restaurant and what was an empty spare room is now a smart tea room. Both dinners and breakfasts were up to a high standard and well received after the cold and rain of Chatsworth. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the young man who greeted...

Our last minute booking meant that we got a very good price for our room, but, even better, on arrival, we were upgraded to a four poster bedroom. It was large and very comfortable, furnished in shabby chic style, and with three windows. The bathroom was a good size too. A nice touch was having loose leaf teas and an...

Stayed here for one night between Christmas and New Year. Excellent base fir walking in the area around Chatsworth. The room was lovely, staff excellent and good get good. What more can you ask. Just one small complaint and it's a bit of a bugbear for me...... when I plugged the hairdryer in I couldn't reach a mirror.

Stayed here for two nights with friends. Lovely setting, rooms very nice and bar/restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Had a meal in the restaurant on the first night, and waited 1.5 hours for food, very slow. Not suitable for veggies, only one option on the mains, and nothing on the starters, very poor. It was a cassoulet, when it arrived,...

Stayed here for 1 night. Upgraded to a bigger room as hotel not busy. Staff helpful. Room very comfortable but really needed an extra chair, otherwise nothing to dislike. Furnished in shabby chic style. Wifi was patchy both in room & downstairs.

The furniture was very tasteful bed very good!!! we had a stream outside our bedroom so babbling water was relaxing...

We were attending a Christmas ball at Chatsworth, so picked this hotel for its location near to Chatsworth. Firstly, arrived in heavy rain, and were unable to find a parking spot in the hotel car park, so ended up parking in the public car park, not ideal considering the rain and having to carry luggage into the room. We were...

The friendly staff here work hard and were catering for a Christmas party of 60 when we arrived back peckish after a sad day and family funeral. They found us a table and we shared a sumptuous seafood platter with a good Chablis. Wonderful find.

This hotel is well positioned for walks or cycles in the Peak District. There is an entrance to the extensive grounds of Chatsworth House which are free to walk around (there is a charge to enter the house itself). The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The bar is very stylish without losing the oldy worldy feel and the restaurant...
