The hostel is comfortable and clean. The room I stayed in doesn't have an any heating system so it gets pretty cold, apart from that everything is good. The lounge and dining area is a good place to hang out. One thing for Traveller to note is to stock up on food before heading to mount cook area as there...

This is a cozy hostel, but expensive to stay. Didn't feel very welcomed, there were lots of people checking in and only one person for two counters. Minimalistic kitchen equipment but nice common area, just enough space for the fully booked hostel.

Full disclosure: so far, I've only stayed at the Christchurch Rolleston and the Lake Tekapo YHA, and this was my third stop. Nevertheless, I could feel the difference as all the staff members were very helpful - Heike and Jono in particular were very friendly. The place is immaculately maintained and cleaned about twice or thrice a day. Since it...

Another well run hostel & the staff were so helpful, phoning around to find another lass somewhere to sleep (loads of travellers I've chatted to haven't been able to fit in at short notice). Make sure you bring groceries as no shop, just a very limited selection at the hostel & a nearby hotel. Limited selection of rooms & sharing...

My favourite hostel of New Zealand! It's like a little log cabin oasis in the mountains. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable welcome from the staff with loads of info on local hiking. The kitchen was fine, though always busy. Sometimes it was hard to get a space! But it was pretty clean and well equipped. The rooms were comfy and warm,...

We are so glad we stayed here for our overnight at Mt. Cook. Super helpful staff with recommendations for activities and trails. Our room was a twin private (with 2 twin beds) with a view of the mountains. It is clean, comfortable, and cozy. Very good kitchen facilities. Front desk also offers sales of simple pantry ingredients, which we took...
