Compared to other hostels in NZ this is defiantly on the more expensive side. However it is also a very nice spot. Decent kitchen, wood panelled walls, free sauna and brilliant views, if the weather allows. There is also a fairly well stocked shop. Handy considering there are very few shopping options in the village.

They were three amazing days on accomodation here. Clean, tidy, good kitchen, you had something to shop inside de hostel, a sauna included in price. People at reception was really helpful and the town is sooooo pretty. If you are on travel in NZ you have to stay here.

There isn't a lot of hostels or budget accommodations in Mt Cook, so I decided to go to the YHA because it was the cheapest. It's a nice hostel, but a little pricey (you can have an hostel as nice in another city for cheaper). The rooms were clean, the kitchen is large enough and clean. There is a nice...

Usual good quality YHA hostel. Large kitchen, nice fireplace, plenty of carparks, clean facilities. They sell food which is good because we forgot to go to the supermarket in Twizel. I would have given it 5 stars but I could easily hear the room next door.

Hello KelvinNZ Many thanks for your positive review. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at our hostel nestled in the heart of the Southern Alps. Sorry to find that you could hear the room next door. Unfortunately, wooden buildings, whilst having plenty of character, tend to creak & conduct sound easily. We do stock ear plugs in our small...

We loved this backpackers – it was cosy, friendly and well equipped – everything a backpacker wants! The rooms were small with panel heaters that did their job very quickly, comfy beds and enough powerpoints. The kitchen was very well equipped, spacious and tidy. Lots of room for food storage. Lounge and TV room are separate which provides for people...

Nice little hostel at the foot of Mt Cook, kitchen facilities are fantastic and the team have their own little supermarket too if you need to buy anything last minute. Rooms are nice and warm there's plenty of space to go be alone too with a private lounge and entertainment room.

This was a wonderful, clean, cozy cabin to spend a few nights in the quiet shadow of the mountains. I loved that I could rent a bike and just ride on the open roads. Some notes: definitely book in advance. Also bring food and cash, since the village has no ATM or grocery store. They do have a little store...

Cosy hostel in a truly exceptional location right by Mount Cook. Stunning views and beautiful walks nearby. Millions of stars overhead! Cosy hostel with log cabin style. Stayed in a twin private room with bunk beds. Clean room and nice shared bathrooms/toilets. Cosy shared kitchen and lounge area. Recommended!
