We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom and kitchen. We had a beautiful view of the mountain from our bedroom. The kitchen and dining area is big and clean. The whole place is well heated. The staff are helpful and friendly. This is a good budget accommodation and highly recommended for backpackers.

It is no doubt that this hostel is totally fit any backpackers like me. Budgeted, but with various open area such as kitchen, dining area, or gathering area, you will definitely have lots of opportunities to meet new friends. Staff are super nice and do help a lot no matter in check-in or advise whether to go.

We stayed three nights at this place. Very cosy room and large kitchen. The place is quite clean and close to everything as the town is quite small :p One important thing if you're going to this town in general: make sure you got all your groceries in advance; there's no shop in town, except for the primary needs in...

Timber built hostel on edge of "town". Surrounded by mountains. Large and busy place. Buses drop you off / pick up at front door. Staff friendly and helpfull. Rooms pleasant, clean and comfortable. Good bathroom facilities. Nice lounges (with TV), good kitchen and dining area. Free WiFi - good line speeds possible at quiet times. Small shop at hostel sells...

We had a cosy room with our own window looking out to the wilderness. The shared bathroom and kitchen facilities were very good and kept clean. There is ample parking and an easy walk to The Hermitage and the beautiful information centre. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

While I was here I worked out it has been 16 years since I last stayed in a hostel. Too long, if this fine establishment is a guide. Staff were super friendly. Bedding, shop, kitchen, lounge all so cosy. And the location ain't so bad! Thanks to the team for a great stay.

This was our first time in a YHA hostel. I haven't had a lot of Hostelling experience, but this was the best by far. We arrived late, but had called ahead and got instructions from a friendly and helpful staff member. We stayed one night in an 8 bed female dorm room. I was very worried about the stay but...

Mt. Cook Village is not a huge area, but it does have plenty of places to stay and restaurants. We opted to stay at the hostel because of its availability and proximity to the Hooker Valley trail, which was our reason for being in the area. This was our first time staying in a hostel and it was very nice!...

I was wary when I read my itinerary that my friends and I will be over nighting at a youth hostel. Understanding the circumstances that, all other hotel/motel facilities were completely and fully booked, staying at youth hostel was the only choice. Very pleasantly surprised at how efficient and clean the hostel was especially the big kitchen with 16 burner...

During our time in New Zealand, we stayed in a variety of baches and hostels. The YHA at Mt Cook was definitely a highlight of our trip! Obviously, the location was incredible, the views breathtaking, and the staff knowledgeable and friendly, but the rooms were clean, warm, and inviting. There were extra blankets if you need them, an enormous modern...
