We arrived late in the evening, and so didn't get to fully experience this wonderful B&B. However, from chatting to Arlene, we learnt that a lot of effort had gone into transforming this B&B into its excellent state today; so kudos Arlene! The dinner recommendation was also excellent.

We arrived in Methven around 7.30pm in pouring rain directly from our flight into Christchurch. James and Arlene were extremely welcoming as was the candelit shared living area with cosy fire and comfy couches. Rooms are compact but spotless. Bed was extremely comfortable, plump doonas and functional bathroom. Location is quiet. Next morning sun was shining and we enjoyed a...

It was very high standard of cleanliness and tidiness. There were wide range of activities in local area and our host were helpful in suggesting those we would then try. The breakfast offer were nutritious and fresh. In summary, we would be very happy to return on this accommodation in the future.

I stayed at this lodge due to a late afternoon arrival into Christchurch.I was very impressed with how clean the place was, also nice gardens with a very inviting outside spa bath, perfect hosts and only a 10 minute walk to town. Breakfast was only continental but plenty of choices.

James and Arlene have created a charming relaxing place to stay. Lovely clean and comfortable lodge rooms overlooking beautifully kept gardens. A well stocked honesty bar and free internet along with wonderful breakfasts make this a great place. My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the self contained Garden Suite at Beluga Lodge and it was the highlight of our holiday. The place was wonderful - suite, garden, spa and gorgeous lounge were all fabulous and really well appointed. Honesty bar was brilliant (well priced and far too tempting) and breakfast and supplies in kitchen were delicious. Arlene...

My fiance and I went to Methven so that we could ride Mt Hutt, and stayed in a Lodge room at Beluga. We found the Lodge to be very conveniently located, very clean and very neat. The hospitality Arlene and James affoarded was fantastic. Breakfasts were cooked to perfection and the drying room for our gear was very handy.

We got a last minute booking for Beluga for one night and will now always choose to stay here if stopping in Methven. Our room was the garden suite (described perfectly by another reviewer) and despite being in almost a totally detached building it was warm and comfortable. I could stay there for weeks! The term 'B+B' can be off-putting,...
