Beautifully designed lodge in remote mountain forest location. We had limited time but greatly enjoyed the unusual trees, and other plant and bird life. Room comfortable, food good, staff as friendly and helpful as can be. If you find fast internet and smooth modern amenities essential to your existence, this is probably not the place for you. If like me...

Stayed a couple of days on our nz tour. Really in the middle of nowhere. Good accommodation, great food , good service, great staff. great trips and tours. Very eco , and very ,environment orientated . Which I liked. Plenty to do around the resort walks , sheep farm oriented talks etc . Really good. My only complaint was the...

Great experience. Lodge is new, clean and very accommodating. Tour of the sheep facility was perfect. Despite small size, the lodge did an awesome job of customizing meals for dietary restrictions. Hike around the property was like another world.

This was our first time staying at a Wilderness Lodge. We had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. They provided a sheep tour which was so informative and the food was superb. You get your choice to eat with other people staying at the lodge or have a dinner with just...

This is a lovely lodge in a beautiful area along the road to the west coast. Our room was basic but had a lodge feel, with a very nice tea and coffee area. The main lodge area is very reminiscent of a ski lodge, with beautiful views of the valley below. There are hiking trails galore, and even an onsite...

Our thanks to Greg for the sheep tour & stargazing as well as the nature walk. Grace &...

The hotel is in a river valley right before Arthur's pass, surrounded by a working farm, pastures, and forests. The rooms are simple but cozy, with good views of the surrounding mountains. The common lounge area was beautiful and there's tea/coffee provided in the lounge at all times, which invites the guests to hang out and talk to each other....

Dear Blue C, Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed the food, accommodations and setting. The satellite connection does mean our internet is slow. It is a reality of our wilderness location and, like you say, it can prompt you to relax in other ways. Kind wishes, Anne Saunders and Dr Gerry McSweeney Owner-Directors

The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful oasis. The views of the mountains are amazing. Our room, on the second floor, was comfortable and peaceful. The management are friendly and welcoming. The meals were fantastic, with breakfast and lunch included in the lodging cost. Wine and other drinks with meals are an extra charge. The wait staff are personable and helpful....

Our group of 2 couples stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The entire staff from Greg down to the waitstaff in the restaurant was friendly, cheerful, and very accommodating. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We especially liked the sheep "round up" demonstration and explanation about the processing of the wool. I would highly recommend the lodge...
