Called in and had a great lunch. Fish n chips were super fresh. The vege fritters were scrumptious and the crumbed squid nice and crunchy. The salads that everything came with were really fresh and tasty and the beet relish for the fritters was superb. The place is nicely relaxing. Enjoyed a couple of pints and a game of pool...

Stopped purely by chance at this hotel for lunch. We had no previous knowledge of the establishment. A very pleasant greeting from the owner/landlord? The menu is relatively short but adequate for the type of establishment that it is. The portions are huge and in fact so huge that we felt that we would have had sufficient if we had...

After having dinner on our 3rd night in castle point (private rent up the road ) me n the brother decided to stay over 1 more night so that we could get a whole day fishing without the wind. We booked a cabin out the back ($65) & according to the web site there would be tea & coffee making...

We stayed in the Pearl room which was spacious, and the bed comfortable. This is an old hotel, but the room was clean and tidy. There was no fridge, or TV. We also enjoyed a nice pub meal that night. Staff could have been friendlier. We stayed on the 1 Jan, so perhaps staff were tired from New Years eve,...

Based on a recommendation from a friend we stopped for lunch. The burgers we ordered were superb. I wish I had tried the Whaka burger! The Hawaiian burger is fantastic. My wife had a plain burger, which she said was tasty.

We stopped here for lunch on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed. Burgers are excellent. I had Hawaiian burger and my wife had a plain burger. Both were excellently cooked with generous patties, fresh salad and tasty buns. I wish I had ordered the Whaka burger!!

Stayed with my girlfriend here for a night in one of their motel-style cabin rooms. We paid 65NZD for a room with fridge and a doubel plus single bed. The communal kitchen was one one side, the communal bathroom on the other. Beside us there has only been two other couples been staying at the time so it was all...

Visited this place, because they had the only gas station in the Castlepoint - just to know that there is no petrol left. However, they have served me a really amazing pasta with cheese and mushrooms. And the beer was also good. Will definitely stop for dining here again. Just need to remember fuel up in Masterton, especially during weekends.

Loved the atmosphere. Everyone was very inviting and welcoming. Great beer and even better food. It was nice getting to know the locals and they included us in their conversation and activities. Highly recommended for a stop.

We booked a Saturday night here because all the holiday homes required 2 nights minimum. Loved it. Room upstairs was basic, with a bit of character due to the hotel's age, but had an ensuite and suited us fine. Cosy bar with limited liquor range (no craft beer!) but good food and friendly service. Eavesdropped on locals' conversations, watched rugby...
