Our crackling fires thaw the coldest of bones – with a little help from locally sourced food, beers and single malts. All served with views to tempt even the weariest to proclaim themselves ready to do it all again the next day. It's all about the views - every room has one - when you're in Glencoe, it's impossible not to. Newly refurbished, the hotel sits like an Alpine retreat. Big windows and views from the bar and restaurant, or corrie round the fireplace in the Way Inn bar, situated in the 1752 coaching inn building. There's also a bunkhouse, and we're right on the west highland way, do drop in for a pint.

Ive just read Neil M’s comments and wondered what hotel he was actually in? Certainly not the hotel experience we had! We stayed for 2 nights and loved every minute Rooms: we had a double room, with plenty of space and the views were absolutely stunning, the room was clean and tidy Hotel and grounds: hotel was beautiful with stunning views all around, there were deer roaming about the grounds and this absolutely was the icing on the cake for us. The hotel was clean, tidy and had lovely open fires crackling away. Restaurant: breakfast great selection for all tastes. Dinners we dined in restaurant both nights and the food was amazing, we are veggies/vegans and there was plenty to choose from Staff: reception staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly at all times. Bar staff were great chatted away and made us feel very welcome. The staff in restaurant were very attentive and friendly, timothy couldnt do enough for us Dome experience: we had afternoon tea in one of the domes it was amazing, the food was lovely, service was great and the views were to die for! I would highly recommend, we have booked again for next year and cant wait. We stayed for two nights from the 23rd November. See you in 2024 Lynne & Willie Millar…

Went to the Kingshouse today for our wedding tasting menu and couldn’t fault it. The staff were warm and friendly even though they were extremely busy. The food was absolutely fantastic and we cannot wait for our wedding day at this beautiful hotel! To top the whole experience off they are dog friendly!

My wife and I visited the hotel for lunch for an anniversary treat. On entering the hotel we saw that is was really rundown in need of a revamp and the whole place was unclean. We attended the restaurant and I ordered soup to start and venison pie as a main course, when the soup arrived it was in a cup with a slice of bread and a sachet of butter. The soup was disgusting it appeared to be a watered down version due to the last remnants in the pot. There was a chap sitting directly across from me who had the same soup in a bowl and 3 times the quantity of what was served to me. He obviously got the last real soup. The waiter came over to remove plate at which point I stated that I could not eat the soup as it was inedible. He made no apology nor did he ask why I thought so, he just lifted the plate & cup and returned to the kitchen. To add insult to injury when the bill came the £7.50 for the so called soup was still on and I had to ask for it to be removed. Honestly the whole experience in this hotel was extremely poor and we will never return. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and our visit to Glencoe was spoiled as a result.…

Home from my 5th stay at The Kingshouse Hotel and already wondering when I'll be able to fit in a 6th visit! The rooms are large, comfortable and cosy. Mine, being at the back, avoided the worst of the howling wind and lashing rain while my Mum, at the front, enjoyed the stunning views over the mountains but also the full brunt of the wild weather. We ate in the restaurant on all 3 nights and the staff were able to accommodate adding 2 extra folks and shift our reservation back a bit on the first night. The food was lovely and all the staff we had dealings with were friendly and efficient. My only 'issue' at dinner was the slow delivery of our drinks which has been a theme on all our visits. We had drinks in the bar each afternoon and again found the staff to be very nice and the service good. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice. Mum did find the hot food was cold by the time she was down at 8.30am on the first morning but we had no problems the next 2 days. We also got amazing poached eggs! Thank you for another relaxing stay, will definitely be back!!!…

We booked the 3 nights for the price off 2 offer and were very much looking forward to our stay. We have previously stayed at the hotel and visited on multiple occasions while in Glencoe. On arrival we received a less than warm welcome. Staff at reception were civil but not overly warm or friendly. Once checked in we went straight to our room. Everything was satisfactory with our accommodation. We then went to the bar for food. Despite booking a table in advance there seemed to be some confusion about where to seat us. After being moved between the bar and restaurant we finally got seated at a table in the bar and ordered food. Our main courses were fine but we noticed the food wasn’t as good as we have had previously and the portions were smaller despite being more expensive. The layout of the bar area has changed but not for the better. The place seemed to be lacking in atmosphere and seemed to have lost its spark. It was cold and the fire was less than roaring so we returned to our room earlier than planned. Breakfast the next day was awful. All the food from the buffet was cold. The coffee machine wasn’t working and there were only 2 members of staff on. So it was difficult to get anyone’s attention. Despite not eating our cold breakfast it was some time before our plates were cleared and nobody asked if there had been any problems with the food. It was apparent that nobody seemed to care if there was any issues or not. Certainly not the same level of service that we had been used to on previous visits. We were out during the day and returned in the afternoon to have a drink in the bar. We were seated and given a menu and after a promise to return to take our order nobody did so my husband went to the bar on both occasions to get our drinks. The bar wasn’t busy and 3 members off staff were more concerned in trying to light a fire than serve costumers. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening. Unfortunately the poor and slow service continued. My husband and I both had to send our main courses back as the food was terrible. The first member of staff took my plate away without an apology and never came back to the table. Eventually a second member of staff came and took my husband’s meal away with an apology and the meals taken off the bill. We had been in the restaurant for over 90 minutes by this point and just wanted to leave so settled our bill and left extremely disappointed. We contemplated sitting in the bar. We couldn’t find any staff and it was fairly empty and felt quite soulless so went back to our room. We made the decision to check out early the next day and head home despite having another night booked. We didn’t stay for breakfast. There was nobody on reception when we left so we put our key in the express checkout. Nobody contacted us regarding the fact that we had checked out early which came as no surprise as the general feeling of the place was that the staff didn’t really care. It really is such a shame because on previous visits the staff have been warm, friendly and very welcoming. The service was always excellent and the food delicious. Our visit was beyond disappointing and I doubt I would ever return. an…

We had a great stay, we enjoyed a walk and the iconic scenery. Comfortable room and bed - the room fan is perfect if it gets too hot. Excellent restaurant food and good selection in the breakfast buffet the following morning.

I stayed 3 nights at the Kingshead Hotel on a photographic trip to Glencoe. Location of the hotel was perfect for my needs, and the room, meals and facilities were excellent. The only downside was the centralised online bookings and communications system employed by the Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels, which was a bit chaotic. Overall, I had and enjoyable stay.

If planning to stay at the kingshouse hotel, make sure you choose a room at the front of the hotel. Constant noise from the extraction unit at the back of the house does not make for a relaxed sleep. The menu is unchanged since opening. Little choice, poor quality and expensive for what you get.
