Our crackling fires thaw the coldest of bones – with a little help from locally sourced food, beers and single malts. All served with views to tempt even the weariest to proclaim themselves ready to do it all again the next day. It's all about the views - every room has one - when you're in Glencoe, it's impossible not to. Newly refurbished, the hotel sits like an Alpine retreat. Big windows and views from the bar and restaurant, or corrie round the fireplace in the Way Inn bar, situated in the 1752 coaching inn building. There's also a bunkhouse, and we're right on the west highland way, do drop in for a pint.

Nestled in a picturesque setting that guests often find breathtaking, the Kingshouse Hotel offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, highlighted by warm fires and scenic views. While the hotel's location and cleanliness earn high marks, the value for money is a point of contention due to pricey services and parking fees. Room opinions are split, with some appreciating the comfort and cleanliness, and others questioning the amenities and layout. Service quality also divides opinion, swinging from friendly and welcoming to slow and disorganized.

This hotel is in a beautiful location with beautiful views and has a large airy feel to it. The room and bathroom were comfortable and roomy, we had room 108 looking out to front but not overlooking carpark. nice to also have the option of a bath if required. We were very disappointed to find the mattress covers on both the beds (singles pushed together to make a double) were completely stained, even the photos don’t show how bad they were. I rang reception and housekeeping arrived quickly and rectified this by changing both mattress covers and I could see the mattresses themselves were fine. Whilst we appreciated the promptness in which this was resolved this is something that should not have needed to happen as there is no excuse for putting stained covers on beds especially in a hotel of this calibre. The bar staff were great and managed the bar area very efficiently considering how busy it was at times. Restaurant had amazing views and the the food at dinner was amazing, top marks for this. Between us we had smoked salmon starter, game terrine starter, venison loin main and lamb main. All were incredible. Breakfast was a top grade buffet, very tasty however it can be a bit awkward trying to dish the food while holding to lids of the hot food as there is no where to put your plate. All in all a lovely place, a tad overpriced on rooms but dinner was worth every penny.

I stayed at the Bunkhouse for 1 night whilst walking the West Highland Way. This was a new experience for me (as opposed to hotels) so wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, I needn't have worried - the accommodation was warm, clean and comfortable. The room was a small 2 bed for sharing (there are also 4 bed rooms) and had a locker for each person  (take your own padlock to save expense of buying from reception), double socket and USB points next to bed. Clean bedding was provided on the bed for my arrival. The shower/wc room had several showers and a couple of toilets and was warm and clean, with a coin operated hairdryer. The kitchen area was well equipped with fridge, microwave, crockery, cutlery, hot water and a vending machine for snacks and the bunkhouse also has a drying room for wet clothing. I paid for a breakfast in the morning (average and opened a little later than expected) and a packed lunch which i picked up from reception (decent). I had taken ear plugs for use in the event of sharing with someone who snores (!) but fortunately they were not required. Member of staff at reception for check in was friendly and helpful.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe! From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed, especially our dog, Luna. The staff went above and beyond to ensure Luna had a comfortable and enjoyable experience, which truly made our stay special.

The room was spotless and well-maintained, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations was impressive.

A special mention must go to Rebekah, who was exceptionally attentive throughout our stay. Her warm and friendly demeanor, combined with her willingness to assist with any request, truly enhanced our experience.

And the food – it was simply delicious! Each meal was a delightful experience, with a wide variety of dishes that catered to all tastes. The quality and presentation of the food were outstanding, making every dining experience memorable.

We can’t recommend Kingshouse Hotel enough for its exceptional hospitality, immaculate rooms, delectable cuisine, and the outstanding service provided by GM Laura & Rebekah. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

We arrived for what we thought would be our 3rd wonderful stay here twice before we stayed at the signature suite wow what views and the staff from front of house to house keeping and bar were spectacular however on our 3rd visit February 9th this year we arrived at 3pm to book In to be told sorry it would be at least half an hour to an hour I told her it was ridiculous but we decided to go a walk at 5 o’clock we returned there were plenty of other guest still waiting to get booked in finally we got to the reception she told us it still wasn’t ready take a seat meanwhile another couple who had been given there key came over and told us the other guests were still in there room ,eventually receptionist came over to give us our key I asked what floor we were on at which point the rude receptionist came over and grabbed the key from my hand and told the polite receptionist to go check the room at this point I said excuse me but she was speaking to us I will deal with it and walked away from us when we eventually were given the keys my husband asked was the room definitely clean and she abruptly said of course my husband replied I’m checking because the last couple that came down still had the old guests in it when we got to our room we had to walk along the long corridor where it was strewn with dirty bedding dirty dishes and empty glasses we even had to dodge dirty dishes outside our door . The bedroom was presented clean and tidy but no gin and mixer so no disrespect to housekeeping they were obviously under pressure but when you are paying top dollar for a room it should be presented in the proper manner so disappointed. We decided not to let it ruin the little of the stay we had left we did speak to the manager which was about as good as talking to one of the deer that wander around outside the only good thing was that when we did ask where on the website does it say booking in from 3 to 5 he told us he couldn’t even though the rude receptionist still kept shouting 3-5, 3-5 he actually shooed her with his hand to be quiet best part of the day even after I showed her on my booking it was 3. I’m sorry to say but your staff need to be taught that after all it’s your hard working customers who pay there wages and they would not be there were it not for us time to pull on big boy pants and really teach some of your staff how to be polite and learn how to speak to the people who pay them after all we have worked hard to earn our money and I myself have worked in hospitality and I would never have spoken to a guest the way she did and I have done management and I’m afraid your manager needs a lot more training in dealing with customers it was atrocious there wasn’t even a complimentary drink or a discount to make up for the receptionist’s rudeness and the totally inappropriate time we had to wait for our room

As a family of 4 we stayed at the Hotel and Bunkhouse. My grandad and aunt stayed in the hotel and myself and my sister stayed in the bunkhouse.

The hotel room was nice and comfortable with plenty of good amenities; there was even a fan provided for if it was too warm in the room. My aunt did use the fan and said it was completely silent and very pleasant. However, they had booked a twin room and when they arrived it was a double. My aunt asked for the beds to be separated but nobody ever came to do this!

Safe to say the bunkhouse was not the same experience as the hotel! The bunkhouse cost around £53 pp/pn which is considerably more expensive than places like Inversnaid Bunkhouse (costing £35 pp/pn) with far better atmosphere and facilities. The room was so hot we barely slept and you can't open the windows due to the festival of midges outside (I know the hotel can't change this but they should provide a fan!). The only plug sockets are basically in your bed with you and the shelf is just above your head so you spend the whole night bashing into them. We used the washing machine but there was nowhere to purchase detergent. The kitchen was okay but very hot and there was only a small area to sit, nowhere to relax together or play games in the usual hostel fashion. The showers and toilets were acceptable and clean, bit disappointing that for the whole hostel there were only 2 female toilets so they were often both occupied. Me and my sister shared a room, not sharing with anyone else, and I have to say I am unsure how comfortable it would have been should you have had to share with additional people. There wasn't even flooring down, just left brushed concrete.

The dinner was nice but not very 'wow' for the price point and they were so understaffed that service was quite slow; I felt very sorry for the waitresses who were struggling. Breakfast was nice but worth noting that the bunkhouse and hotel guests eat in separate places but you can upgrade to the hotel breakfast for £5 pp, which we did to eat together.

All-in-all the views were lovely but I wouldn't recommend it for the price point, it is the only place to stay for a bit of a distance but I would recommend travelling further along the West Highland Way if you are able and staying elsewhere.

The hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning floor to ceiling views from the restaurant of Glencoe. The restaurant staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was well presented and tasty. That said, we left very disappointed with the customer service we received or should I say didn't receive. We were allocated room 119, I would strongly advise anyone staying at the hotel to avoid this room as it is located above the kitchen extractor fan. We were 2 friends walking the West Highland Way so one of the most important factors of our stay was to get a good nights sleep. This was impossible due to the noise level in our room. We relayed our complaint to the duty manager in the morning but left the desk feeling dismissed and dissatisfied.

Hi, thanks for your kind words about our team. I believe the noise you are talking about came on when the kitchen opened for breakfast and it was the extract fans. The chef had turned them on earlier than usual and we have reminded him of the need to not do that till required, please accept our apologies and next time we will make sure you have a different room. We’ve passed by often on our trips around Glencoe and always wanted to stay thinking as it was one of the more expensive hotels in the area, it would be a special treat.
The location is wonderful and the views undoubtedly spectacular but the hotel itself didn’t live up to expectations.
The first issue was on arrival. There is a car park but there is no dedicated drop off point at the hotel entrance to unload and load luggage. The car park is about 30 yards or more from the entrance, ok if you only have a small bag but not convenient if you have several items of luggage and large suitcases to wheel. The closest is a couple of disabled parking spaces across the road from the entrance but that still involves navigating the path and gravel. Goodness knows how anyone in a wheelchair would manage. It’s not as if it’s on a busy city centre main street, if they removed the bollards at the front of the hotel there would be ample space for dropping off and picking up.
The staff are friendly and helpful and we were offered a trolley to load our luggage but that was more bother than it was worth as it just barely fitted into the only two-person lift.
We chose a signature room that was modern and spacious and the views from the private balcony were spectacular but the room design was just lacking. Yes, there was an extra large king bed (2 singles together) and a seating area with two sofas and a sofa bed but no dedicated dressing table for doing hair and makeup. I had to move the kettle, mugs and tea provisions from the only table with enough space next to a mirror and sockets. Even then it wasn’t ideal as it was below the TV with the mirror adjacent. The TV itself is not a Smart TV and has limited channels and the only sofa facing it was at the back of the room, impossible to watch either from there or the bed. We had to move one of the other sofas so we could watch it. There is one bedside table, the other end has a high shelf on the wall. The layout just hasn’t been well thought out. The description boasts fluffy robes and slippers. There were robes but certainly not fluffy, neither were the towels and the bathroom, although adequate was tiny with hardly any space for setting out toiletries and only a shower above the bath that you had to clamber into. Not even a rain-head shower, only a single spray that wasn’t very powerful. Housekeeping was ok but we had to ask for spare toilet roll. Food was disappointing. Nothing special for breakfast. We ate dinner on the first night and it was not value for money. We did complain about the tough lamb and hard fondant potatoes and veg and our complaints were taken on board but we decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay. In all I would say it is a “posh” bunkhouse rather than a luxury hotel.

We’ve always stopped here for tea and scones when taking the scenic route to and from Inverness, loving the picturesque views and atmosphere of the hotel. So with this in mind, booked into the Kingshouse Hotel the day after our wedding as a treat. Whilst the public areas in the hotel feel luxe yet cosy, I felt the rooms were very basic - especially considering the cost. As you can imagine, views are limited in the middle of November and TV signal is limited in rooms so I’m not sure what truly warrants the cost.

We cancelled our dinner at the front desk when we arrived opting for room service instead, which they couldn’t do due to a wedding on. I wish the receptionist had made us aware of this whilst checking in, we wouldn’t have cancelled dinner otherwise.

Overall it was fine but I was left feeling it wasn’t worth it. I would, however, continue to stop here for refreshments or lunch.

Visited Kingshouse many times over the years and enjoyed thoroughly
On this occassion we were left very disappointed and have questioned our return
Hotel and rooms are exceptionally clean but the level of service was appalling as we felt there was not enough staff to accomodate the guests out with the wedding party who were staying in the hotel

This was our first stay at the Kingshouse and it certainly won’t be our last. The room rate seems expensive, but the service, views and location make it priceless. We received a warm welcome from Craig, the managing director, who made us feel at home and part of the family. It is clear customer service is at the heart of what they do, and it’s not just a bed for the night.

The staff openly shared how well they are looked after, and this comes across in the service they provide. Declan was lovely, and it is hard to believe he only started at the hotel a few weeks ago.

The evening meals were first class - the venison was delicious, and I can’t believe I am writing this, the roast cabbage is a must to try!

Thank you to the team for making our first stay so special.

Yes. This is the case in Scotland, generally, at present. I was very pleased to note that both staff and guests adhered to the rule while we were there. It's really not a big deal and helps to protect us all.
