This is a great hotel in a fantastic location if you want to get away and just relax. The views over the lake are incredible, the log fire is beautiful and perfect at the end of the evening with a whisky :) great food and staff and highly recommend it

We visited for the weekend as a couple with the aim of a relaxing getaway. Overall the stay was average. The location is excellent for a quiet weekend and the grounds and views of the loch were magnificent. The room itself was very nice, modern and clean and the bed was comfy. We liked the outdoor chess set and enjoyed... More

This was our third visit to the Macdonald Forest Hills, and having followed the rather mixed reviews on Trip Advisor recently, we were a bit worried before our arrival. I don’t know if we were just lucky or hit it off well with the staff, but our stay was rather pleasant and nice, and more importantly: nothing negative stood out.... More

We have stayed at this hotel before. The room before was very good. This time, was very good. We were up graded. The room we were originally given was tired. So we were disappointed. We were very pleased to be up graded. It was quite a different experience.

Visited hotel on a diner bed and breakfast package. We were upgrade on arrival. Room was lovely with balcony overlooking loch. King size bed, tea making facility and Espresso coffee machine was a nice surprise. Dinner in package was £30 each and covered a nice three course meal or two course with steak. Breakfast was continental and cooked breakfast. Pool... More

We stayed in a lodge. The MacDonald website says the lodges are magnificent, the posters on site remind you they are of high quality, Neither are correct in my opinion. The ‘view room’ image on their web site has a shot from outside only, now I know why. There was no Wi-Fi in the room; in fact the signal was... More

Spa Restaurant poor and lunchtime snack average. Room was on the ground floor and acoustics were very poor - we heard everything going on in the room above - especially the children running around all evening.

We booked this through Booking.com and were pleased to have a two bedroomed 'apartment' which was actually a semi detached bungalow at the gate of the property. Uninspiring from the outside but a very nicely fitted out and spacious interior and plenty warm enough once we had switched on the heating. Lovely location, kids enjoyed skimming stones and welly paddling... More
