We made a late booking for two nights at Dalrachney. We were the only guests in this beautiful atmospheric old shooting lodge. Gordon, Trixie and staff were the epitome of hosts and made us feel more like returning friends than guests. The room was spacious with fine linen and wonderful thick bathroom towels! Coming from the USA we really appreciated...

Thank you so much for your review. It was lovely to meet you and we were very glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. It is good to know when guests say they notice things like the quality towels. Thank you for recommending us to your friends and we hope to see you again.

Discovered this gem whilst staying in Carrbridge recently. Set well off the beaten track in lovely gardens the owners of the Dalrachney lodge are most welcoming. It feels like dining in a private house which it virtually is. The food was excellent and there is a wonderful selection of whiskies! I thoroughly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to pay...

We were lucky enough to stumble upon this lovely Country House Hotel after a bad experience at another establishment. We had decided to leave the previous place but unfortunately then had one night with no where to stay! Driving through Carrbridge we saw their sign and as we drove up the gravel path and saw the building we know we...

Thank you for posting a review and we glad you were delighted with Room 1,1its new bathroom and the splendid view. It was nice to hear that the rest of the refurbishment to date was appreciated and that you enjoyed the hunting lodge charm. We were sorry to learn that although you enjoyed your starters and desserts, it was not...

While the room facilities are gradually being updated one wouldn't want to spoil the character of the Lodge with too much 21st century glitz. It is a charming building, beautifully furnished and well maintained. Check-in took a minute or so and we were greeted with the news that since they were between shooting parties, we had been upgraded. Our room...

First impression: gravel drive and approach; impossible to wheel luggage over. The hotel is old, in need of refreshing but the service was good. The room and bath were large and comfortable with a lovely view. Dinner was OK, but expensive. However, that's because of the pound/dollar ratio. All in all, a nice stay.

Thank you for your review and we are glad you had a nice stay. It was unfortunate that due to the exchange rate you thought your visit was expensive. Yes, the hotel is old - it is an Edwardian Hunting Lodge built in 1905 and these buildings do not have lifts, especially with only 11 bedrooms and yes - we...

Dalrachney Lodge was a weekend retreat for us and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. This is a small, independently owned, traditional Scottish Highland hotel with friendly, kind and caring owners & staff. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, a great Bistro and a Lounge that......well, you just want to lounge and relax in! If you're after a quiet,...

It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and we are so glad you had a relaxing break. It is particularly good to know you had an excellent sleep experience, which is very important to us. Initially I thought Dalrachney Lodge might be a little too sedate. It was quiet, and on the evening we dined there our dining room companions gave old age a bad name. Sooo boring to overhear endless exchanges of recipes! But the Lodge itself is utterly delightful. We stayed two nights in an attic or rooftop room which was very comfortable...

Visited with my husband and a small group. We could not have been happier with the stay, the rooms, the food and tremendous hospitality. The hosts are welcoming and helpful- even down to the delightful dog. The breakfast is great & service just excellent. We also had dinner and enjoyed it as well. A stay in the area?... this lodge...

Great find for a hectic weekend in Avemore. Peaceful and quite. The staff and management seemed very interested in our needs. The restaurant had great meals no need to go outside. When your there .. If you see their dog outside, chuck a stick at him, he loves it.

Booked here for a night on a last-minute whim. Hotel is very pretty, the staff was very friendly. Internet was a bit spotty in the the room but was really fast in the common areas. The room was clean, the bed very comfy. Only thing is that I thought the toiletries provided smelled like something my grandmother would use :/....

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted that you found the food phenomenal!! Just wanted to say that although you didn't like the scent of the toiletries, we found Ortigia when on holiday in Venice. We liked it so much we import it from La Bottega in Italy! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dalrachney Lodge is an independent family run Country House Hotel in Carrbridge in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. We recognise how precious your relaxation and holiday time is away from home and we aim to provide a tranquil environment in which to enjoy our wonderful surroundings. Dalrachney Lodge a former Edwardian Hunting Lodge, is set in 3 acre grounds within the Cairngorms National Park and rests directly beside our own 1 km stretch of the Dulnain River. Our Bistro menu features locally sourced food and a good selection of whiskies. We have Egyptian cotton bed linen, Heirlooms towels and Floris toiletries in all rooms. Our Superior rooms have handmade Savoir Super King size beds. Having taken over just two years ago, a substantial renovation project is ongoing which has seen our Drawing Room and Bar/Bistro refurbished and completion of two new bedrooms with new en-suite bathrooms. In March 2015 a biomass boiler system was installed and another two new bathrooms have been completed. Investment in the Hotel is continuing with work starting on updating more bathrooms later in the year and a self-catering cottage will be available for rental in the Summer. We hope you will come and enjoy our Scottish hospitality and all the Cairngorms has to offer. ... more   less
