Stopped by for a drink and meal after an energetic day hillwalking. The Cairn is a decent traditional bar with an open fire and friendly staff who make you feel welcome.A mixture of locals and visitors make up the clientele and there is a lively atmosphere.Food is good and service with a smile. As they say whats not to like? Having stayed at numerous places in Scotland, including four star Edinburgh, this is without a doubt the best I have experienced. Ok, it isn't luxury but it is exactly what you pay for, and that is perfect. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff (and locals!), wonderful freshly made home cooked food, delicious breakfast and fantastic rooms. An amazing alternative to Aviemore,... More

My fiance and I stopped here for 5 days as we explored the whiskey distilleries in the Highlands. Had a really warm welcome from Gareth and his team, including Luke, Stephen and Norma, and the everyone that we encountered during our stay. We ate there 4 out of the 5 nights as no where else had the quality of food... More

I was recently on holiday with my boyfriend and his family and we decided to stop in by the Cairn Hotel in Carrbridge for a few drinks. My boyfriends parents had visited before and had told us how impressed they were so I was eager to see for myself. Well, it did not disappoint! As soon as we entered we... More

We have stayed here on many occasions en route to Orkney and always want to stay longer. Last visit was just before and just after Christmas. As always, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are well catered for heating wise with self controlled electric heaters. It's good to have a bar in such a small place, and... More

I have been coming here for a number of years due to the charm of the place. The rooms are not all that special. But, it is quite cheap so cannot expect too much. The bar / eating place is so beautiful and rustic. It is a really nice setting and the staff and locals are lovely and friendly.

Booked last minute through late rooms for only £35.00 bed and breakfast. That in itself is very good value, but the hotel is also a very welcoming village pub with at least 3 'real ales' on hand pump. My room was very comfortable with a basic en-suite that was fine for my one night stay. I did not have a... More

Spotted here for food and pints. Couldn't fault either. Portions were the perfect size and great little atmosphere in the country pub. Very clean and we were sitting in beside the fire. Staff very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to visiting again!

Very reasonably priced, has got a great little pub with open fire, kind locals & their dogs and fantastic food for both evening meal and the cooked breakfast. The hotel is a great find. It is clean, has friendly owners, a great pub and we try and go at least once a year.
