We came to this hotel on a 'deal' which made the stay fantastic value. We had a lovely room and a bottle of prosecco on ice waiting for us. We had a very nice massage at the Spa and later went for a swim in the pool which was lovely and warm and also had an adjoining outdoor one which was also warm and a jacuzzi a bit further away which was also very good. The evening meal was very good - staff very attentive and the food presented well and tasted very nice. Breakfast the next morning was very good too, excellent service and very nice breakfast. Would - and will definitely stay again.
We are familiar with Charlton having stayed a few times and know wha for expect. Overall it is a lovely hotel with a nice Spa that has recently been refreshed. However the hotel itself needs renovation in places, such as the main bar area (flaking paint) and some of the rooms. Room 18 - Coach House is a lovely space but it smells of damp and you can see evidence of it. Over two years have passed since we last saw this space and it is still just as bad. Some lights do not work, broken blinds, and broken shelf in bathroom. The breakfast is good but evening dinner could be better, food is not very good. The hotel could do with investing in some new higher quality Christmas decorations too.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. We paid a little extra for the room upgrade, which was so worth it. Stunning four poster bed with freestanding bath pride of place in the centre of the room. Lovely furniture, and a large bathroom/shower. The restaurant was excellent, and worthy of it’s awards. Breakfast was fab, went to every effort to provide whatever we wanted. Spa was the perfect size. Not too big, felt like an extension of our home. The treatments were professional and enjoyable, and worth the cost. Good staff and a lovely building.
Stayed again on business and as per normal I can’t fault this place , the food in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic , the staff can’t do enough for you and the hygiene standards are superb. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Well done Charlton House and look forward to seeing you in 2021
Had a lovely time, we stayed in room 18 the hotel is very nice and staff are very friendly and helpful, the only problem is the hotel and rooms need a bit of tlc, lights broken and not working, mismatched cups, DVD player but no dvd, the rooms are for two people but you only get water and biscuits for one person, our room had its own hot tub, flip flops would be a good nice to use when walking from our room to the hot tub not slippers and our room had its own entrance and outside access into the hotel. It rained the hole time we was there so we got socked a umbrella in the room would be great, it was lovely having our own private hot tub and Garden, but I don’t feel it was private enough as we could see the bin man and staff coming and going and there could see us when we was relaxing in the hot tub, I don’t like feather pillows so I didn’t sleep well different types of pillows options would be a good idea, you don’t get a welcome pack or a little note about the hotel, room you are in a meal and how to call room service or even given the number from room service, it would be very nice it you did please overnight we had a lovely stay and definitely we be coming back and staying again…
