Sue and Mike were delightful - room spotless, well priced and close to everything. Great bar - John was lovely too. Thoroughly recommend. Very helpful on where to go to eat, and felt we were welcomed as friends. So much better than a stuffy five star. Loads of character.

We got such a warm welcome in this lovely pub. Our room was clean, comfortable and well designed with tea and coffee making made easy with a mini fridge and kettle, and croissants ready for breakfast. There's everything you need, but because the rooms are small I think it's good for a short stay. Location is ideal, between Hove Lawns...

Booked at the last minute for a business trip and glad I did, centrally located down a side street and the rooms are above a cracking local. Compact rooms but nicely decorated with thoughtful touches, parking could be a problem in high season but a welcome change from the soulless chains or dilapidated independents that Brighon seems to specialise in.

Brilliant accommodation, very clean and comfy. Staff, especially John, so helpful and welcoming-as were the locals who made us feel so at home and provided lots of helpful information and advice on where to visit and eat. Would recommend this establishment to any visitors to Brighton-and are definitely going back-miss it already.

What a find, great value, quiet, toasty warm and such a good night's sleep in a great bed. If you don't mind a stroll to Brighton it's great, buses leave from really close by too. Owner fantastic, all staff super helpful. Steep stairs to access rooms, fine for us but bear it in mind for access.

On a side street in the Brunswick area of Hove , close to good restruants , 15 / 20 minute walk to Brighton city centre . You may need ear plugs if you are a light sleeper some noise due to the nightlife in the area but not bad really considering it was a Saturday night . Bow Street Pub...

We booked here for an overnight stay whilst seeing a gig at the Brighton Centre and to do a bit of Christmas shopping. The pub is quaint and small, traditional and very friendly. The staff were helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Our room was on the first floor and very compact but had everything we needed for an...

I booked this because my boyfriend is a retired police officer and the name made it appropriate. I think it is where a police station used to be many years ago. The owner had worked there for years before purchasing it from the previous owner and has made many improvements. The place is quirky and friendly. The decor of the...

My boyfriend and I came to Brighton for his 21st birthday and had to book two rooms as I booked late and couldn't find anywhere to stay. I was a little skeptical as it is a pub but you wouldn't have even noticed if you had just gone straight up to the room. As soon as we entered he pub...

I was searching for a hotel for one night on the internet , have stayed at the Grand , Metropole , & big seafront hotels in Brighton , all very nice , but you will never get the friendliness , laughter , atmosphere & made more welcome than you would at The Bow Street Runner. Our room was also superb...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A small traditional pub in a side street of Hove just off of the main thoroughfare that links Brighton and Hove, the pub has no food, no Sky TV, no loud music and no gaming machines, just a pub, BLISS! Originally called the Station Inn the earliest record as a pub was 1867 and was originally the Brunswick Police and Fire Station hence the name. There is a stark difference between the old pub and the modern guest rooms. I took the pub over in 2010 and converted the living accommodation to 3 en-suite rooms. I am helped by a great team, our manager Warren, Gervase, Maggie, Kevin and Simon in the bar and Wendy with the rooms. They all make our guests welcome as do our pub customers and Beau (our dog). Unfortunately, due to the age and nature of the property, access for some people may be difficult. If you have any special needs please give us a call to find out if we are able to accommodate you. ... more   less
