FABULOUS lunch today to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday - food was superb - oodles of choice on both specials board and menu.
Service was excellent - very friendly, welcoming pub...would highly recommend.
We had to telephone to announce our arrival (what is wrong with a doorbell?) but received a warm welcome after our wet Wessex Ridgeway walking. Six foot bed and good shower with plenty of teas and coffees meant we could unwind after the day's exertions....More
Pleasant food and a very friendly family focussed pub! There is a genuine sense of openness and enjoyment that pervades everything about the Saxon inn. We will visit again as the welcome is always so genuine.

Delightful place to stay in every way. Immaculate room and bath. Andy the chef was wonderful preparing very good food. Highly recommend to others. The location was convenient to good spots in Dorset, yet it was peaceful and quiet.
The Saxon Inn is in a good location - very rural but within easy driving distance along mainly country lanes to Sherborne and Dorchester, for example. Numerous information leaflets were available at the inn and there was sufficient parking. The staff, especially Andy, were all...More
