Quirky, unusual, unique. All these words apply to this accommodation. We stayed for one night on our journey south from St. Malo. For us it was a perfect stopping point. Enough driving for our first day in France and time to sample one of the many Château in the area. Yannick, the host, spoke good English, was very friendly and helpful and made the stay very relaxing.
Some points you may find helpful. The drive into the parking area has a narrow point to get through, we have a reasonably big car and it did squeeze through, if you’re not confident you can park and walk the extra distance.
The accomodation is fascinating and comfortable, but by nature can feel a little dark and claustrophobic, any more than two nights would have been too much for us.
We stayed on a Sunday, the village is pleasant and a short pleasant walk away but not much open. I would advise to ask Yannick to reserve a table in advance if you wish to eat locally,

Superb establishment, very quiet.
Very welcoming manager who takes great care of his customers, he takes the time to accompany us to our room and explain everything to us.
Ditto for breakfast which happens to be complete, local and for the most part homemade.
Swimming pool slightly cool but accessible day and night.
The rock in which this swimming pool is dug creates a bit of a resonance chamber and is noisy if, as we experienced, some travelers do not really respect the silence of the night….
Beautiful establishment to recommend

Perfect stay both in terms of the location and the comfort and uniqueness of the troglodyte rooms. Very warm welcome from an owner concerned about the well-being of his customers, he is very present and always willing to answer all our questions. The buffet breakfast is perfect and allows us to appreciate local products!
We will definitely come back to stay at this hotel

The setting of the hotel is original but a little disappointed in the services of this establishment.
The quality of cleanliness is just ok with an impression that the room has not been cleaned properly or for some time.
The television only works on certain channels and in average quality, the remote control is poor and the Wi-Fi is absent from the room, you have to go to the terrace for a fairly low speed.
The swimming pool is tempting on their site but once there there is a very present smell of chlorine and the cleanliness still needs to be reviewed. This is perhaps what explains the relatively short usage time of customers during our stay over 2 two nights.
This establishment, however, has a lot of charm but it seems a little lacking in investment on the part of the owners.
For the positive points, the setting with its originality, the quality breakfast, the comfortable bedding and the kindness of the staff. The price is also right.

This was our second time to stay here. This stay was equally as excellent & enjoyable as the first time. The family room perfectly accomadated our family of 5 & it was a novelty to stay in a cave room. The cave pool provided an enjoyable soak after a busy day. The level & quality of service provided by the host is second to none. Always available with recommendations for nearby restaurants & to assist with reservations. The hotel itself is a tranquil break from the hustle & bustle of site seeing in an ideal location to explore Saumur, the Loire and surrounding areas. Rooms are spacious & well thought out with nice decor. Breakfast, and evening drinks, are available on a sun soaked terrace overlooking a peaceful garden & the Loire valley below. I would highly recommend this hotel.

A magnificent place with a troglodyte swimming pool. Everything was perfect, the welcome, the breakfasts with homemade pastries and fresh fruit juice, the tastefully decorated room (Indian room for us) the quality of the bedding was very appreciable. We thank Yannick the owner very much, for his kindness and his good advice, for restaurants and activities in the region. We had a pleasant stay in your establishment, we will return with great pleasure.

Beautiful establishment, and frankly surprising. We had an excellent family weekend. The owners are adorable, accommodating, and resourceful. We slept one night in a troglodyte room, to do. Breakfast on the terrace was super pleasant, quite complete, local products. Honestly, an establishment to discover. Only downside: to reserve a troglodyte room, do it at least 1 year in advance, the price of success?

We had long dreamed of spending a night in a cave room: the Abode of the Vineyard met our expectations perfectly. We were in the room Marie de Medici, right next to the pool, troglodyte too, and heated. Real happiness. The private parking is a plus, as well as the terrace overlooking the valley, which unfortunately we could not enjoy due to bad weather. The hotel is located in the cellars of an ancient cave village of the 17th century, very picturesque, unusual and original.

With almost a dozen trips to France over the last quarter century, and his was the most charming and unique experience we’ve had. Prior to our arrival, the owner’s communication was excellent. We were able to pre-book massages and ensure that my mother, who has a mobility disability, would have a room with easy access. Upon arrival, the stone caves are gorgeous, as is the view of the vineyard. The cave rooms were great with modern amenities. The breakfast was substantial and delicious. The temperature controlled cave pool was a unique and relaxing experience. We were so taken by the whole experience that we changed our summer itinerary to stop by for a longer stay.
