If you're doing the Shimanami Kaido cycleway you could do a lot worse than stay in this hotel. It's right across the street from bike hire and also a gentrified wharf warehouse with eateries. It's also close to the Onomichi railway station. The rooms are tired but everything seemed to work! Staff were helpful.

We stopped here b/c they have a 25 temple walk, and it sounded interesting. Dai ichi Hotel was only a little ways from the station, about 5 min. walk and that was convenient. The hotel held our luggage until check-in time, and then they brought it upstairs for us. So when we did check in later that day, our luggage... More

The bathroom's plastic walls were spotted with dirt, the bathroom light above the mirror was dusty, the toilet still had pubic hair on the hinge and the electric switches were grubby. The room's electric plug needed an extension lead (which reception supplied). Below average for Japan, but the sheets and towels were clean. The good news is there were no... More

This hotel was perfectly fine. Sure it needs some paint, some new bed spreads, but I found the room clean, bed comfortable and while the room was small, serviceable. Wifi now runs throughout the building (and was fast enough to watch netflix). I had a room facing the port and the sunset was fantastic. I highly recommend paying for the... More

We spent one night in this hotel. It located in the central of Onomichi and near Onomichi Station. The shopping area, some good restaurants, Onomichi Station, the Senkoji Park 千光寺及山城,本通商業街 are all within walking distance. Room is as same as many budget hotels in Japan, it is small but always neat and tidy. The air-conditioner was running in good order.... More

We were very pleased with this hotel. I had misgivings after reading the other reviews but it was exactly what we wanted - clean, efficient, inexpensive and well located. We were on the 8th floor with a superb view of the harbor. The staff is a bit reserved but efficient and helpful when asked. We asked for a dinner recommendation... More

Nothing special about this business hotel, just like your average similar hotel in Japan - small rooms, barely enough room to move, all in one built in plastic bathroom, I'd say crappy for 6,300 JPY with breakfast. It's like a 2 star hotel, and might be worth it for budget travelers if it were 20% cheaper (but we also went... More

The most unfriendly and unhelpful hotel I've ever stayed at in Japan (this is our 6th trip here, and all our experiences have been very good to wonderful until now.) Maybe they are nice to Japanese tourists, but both my husband and I speak enough Japanese to get by in pretty much most situations, and they made NO effort to... More

After reading the other review I was worried! I was booked into this hotel by a customer and after travelling 3 hours from Osaka I arrived at Onomichi. The hotel has seen better days and could do with some refurbishment but I found my room to be basic but it was clean...no sign of the bugs! The staff were all... More

Bugs in the room. After waking up, I saw the walls covered with crawling bugs! I would have never stayed in that place if I had seen any bugs when I checked in. They tended to come out in the dark.
