Upon arrival the offer of a cup of tea or coffee with homemade cake was very much appreciated, Margaret is a very warm and kind person, nothing seemed to much trouble, both Margaret and Dick went out of there way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Our room was of generous proportions, very clean and well decorated. If we...

Margaret tries hard to make a wonderful first impression with a profusion of flowers and attractive frontage. Entering the hallway reinforces the feeling that your stay will be very comfortable with a well appointed common area and dining room. Our room was a bit tight but very comfortable with a large separate private bath adjacent. Margaret provided transport to the...

Margaret Locke is an extraordinary person ! We spent four nights at Hallbarns, three while walking St. Oswald's Way and one while walking Hadrian's Wall. The setting feels remote and is so quiet and peaceful. There's a garden to sit in if the weather permits, and our room was large and comfortable. But it's Margaret's spirit that infuses the place....

This B&B is a very homey place with excellent food. It is nestled into the Northumbrian countryside and will be a lovely addition to any trip to England. The breakfast are good, but the dinners are even better!

Mrs Locke was an excellent host providing us with a warm welcome and fantastic food. The B&B is a pretty detached farm house in a quiet location. Meticulously clean with honest traditional charm and values. Mr Locke kindly picked us up from our walk of Hadrian s wall and delivered us entertainingly to our next start point. Thank you. One...

We were walking the Hadrian's Wall Path and after 30+km, 10h walk in constant rain we arrived to Hallbarns (at c.a. 21:30) and expected no more than a cosy bed. We have received far more. People were very welcoming and friendly. They took our wet clothes and dried them for us, gave us extra free drinks and offered food and...

Margaret and Dick welcomed us to their home with open arms. Dick picked us up in Chollerford to take us to the bed and breakfast, chatting with us as if we were old friends. Our room was large and comfortable and immaculately clean. We loved that there was a soaking tub, with a bottle of muscle relaxing bubble bath for...

Margaret fed us well and the quiet room gave us a welcome opportunity to recuperate after a long day of walking Hadrian's Wall. The evening's meal left us wanting for nothing and her young helper was very funny! In the morning, Dick took us up the road to resume our trek with some lively conversation.

I would strongly recommend. This was booked for us by our specialist agent, Macs Adventures, who obviously know their stuff because this accommodation (along with all the others) was excellent. It's an old house in a beautiful country setting with traditional country decor but quality fittings in very good condition and very clean and welcoming. The owners were delightful and...

We arrived after a 15 mile walk a little weary and wet, we were met by Margaret who quickly took our jackets to dry, and presented us with a welcome tray of coffee/tea and cake, and told we could relax and watch tennis in the sitting room while we had our coffee. Our room was spacious, a family room, with...
