The Barcelo was a wonderful retreat. We only spent a day, and night, but made the most of our time. It was such a beautiful resort with a huge swimming pool, wet bar, volley ball, and many fun activities. The little restaurant located in the...More
This one goes down as one of the worst lodging deal we've ever had. don't pay more than $25/night for this place.

I will try not to repeat what has already been said in earlier reviews. I was there with my husband and daughter June 17-20, 2008.

It is my forth time visiting Nicaragua and have never flew in late at night. All I can tell you that YOU NEED to have a reputable driver that works with Barcelo Hotel, so please contact the hotel to arrange for a driver to meet you at the airport. Do not let ANY TAXI DRIVER outside the airport to lure you for the ride to the hotel. Be firm with them. There is a security guard at the entrance station 24/7 at the resort. Be sure to provide a copy of your hotel reservation and passport. You should not have any problem getting in. One way fare should not cost more than $70, but maybe a bit premium for night.
