My son has recently moved to Monkton Combe. We went here while visiting for a few drinks. The area is beautiful and the Wheelwrights Arms fits perfectly. The place was small quiet and peaceful. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. We had a lovely relaxing evening and will be back.

We stayed in room 1 which is a good size with a nice sized bathroom. The polished wooden floors, shuttered windows and simple decoration certainly add to the charm and make it a relaxing experience. We ate in the restaurant both evenings, there is plenty of choice on the menu and it is fairly priced. The evening meals and breakfasts...

Decided to stay here for an overnight trip to Bath. First impressions: remote (but not lonely) as well as idyllic and peaceful. The rooms are in an annex and are beautiful. The bathroom is massive! Although there is no actual shower- it's a bath with a shower head. I didn't mind this though. Also, we were early and keen to...

First on your left, down 3 steep stairs. Room 2 has lovely bare floorboards and a good sized double bed, TV, a couple of chairs and a massive wardrobe. The ensuite bathroom is massive (possibly bigger than the bedroom). All very nicely decorated and with original art on the walls. Breakfast is superb, lots of choice and superbly cooked to...

I visited the Wheelwrights Arms recently with my girlfriend. We arrived without a booking & were lucky enough to get a table. The place wasn't too busy, but they did have reserved tables for other diners, who were expected. The menu was good. It had a varied selection & something for most people. The atmosphere was friendly & quiet enough...

I've been here twice now during the week, and both times I've had food that I've really enjoyed - the last dish, a pumpkin arancini, was just delicious. Full of flavour. Definitely not from the Brakes Brothers catalogue. There was no one else there, both times, and I worry that the pub isn't getting the attention it deserves. It's a...

Enjoyable stay at the wheelwright's arms. The room was in in annex on the ground floor, plain boards but well fitted out with good furniture, comfortable bed and all the little extras you would want - nice toiletries, choice of teas, decent shower etc. The staff were very helpful and here comes the health warning - the breakfast was enormous...

Im a fair person and I must start by saying the food was five star. Tasty good size portion. A pleasure to eat. However the man behind the bar was abrupt and if he looked down his nose any more he'd of gone cross eyed. Now the place is a quiet country pub with a great food reputation. We turned...

We stopped here last week on our way to Somerset. We received a warm efficient welcome and we were shown to our room in the Annex, it was very well furnished and very comfortable with a high standard of toiletries and extras. The room was clean but would not have quite passed 3 in a bed vigilant standards! We had...
