Following the death of my mother, we held a gathering at the Wheelwrights (her favourite pub) to celebrate her life. David could not have been more helpful in making suggestions as to the quantity of food required for some 40 people. He advised me not to order what I had in mind as there would be a substantial amount of...

Stayed for one night. Super room with great views (room 7). Really nice atmosphere and we really enjoyed our evening meal & breakfast was spot on. It is not the Ritz and for us the relaxed but attentive service is just for us. Location great for walks, Kennet & Avon canal and for seeing Bath. We walked down to Bath...

Came upon this interesting looking pub for lunch when in the area. We ordered the soup of the day, leek and potato. It was a white thin consistency and made with a lot of cream (no garnish and tasted like it hadn't seen much of a leek or potato) in a white bowl on a white plate with two slices...

Took my boys and my Mum for lunch today and was fantastic. We arrived slightly later than we booked but the staff were so welcoming it seemed no problem at all. We had a table for 5 at the front of the restaurant in a semi private room. We all felt very special sitting there. Lady taking our order dealt...

Ordered the pint of prawns with Marie rose sauce (for 2) and it was a pint glass of unshelled prawns with small amount of sauce. No bread so ordered some brown bread and were given 2 slices of brown bread and 5 of white ( not fresh) at an extra cost of £3.50!!! My husband then had fish and chips,...

Had dinner with my wife. Liked the atmosphere and the building is quirky and a delight - historic, warm and comforting. Our food was good but the beer was nothing special. Drank better versions of both beers in nearby pubs.

Thank you for your comments. Sorry about the beer but our regulars are very complementry about how we look after the draught beer. Any way I will pass this on to the manager who looks after the cellar.

We stopped off for lunch and had some great local cider and a brilliant fish finger sandwich! They are open a bit later than usual pubs and have a really nice atmosphere. The bar staff we super friendly. Highly recommend.

Whilst located at monkton Combe a tiny quiet village it is only 3 mile from the centre of Bath. With a bus stop right in front you have the best of both worlds. Whilst I felt I slid back a couple of hundred years in time I still had L'Occitane products in my ensuite bathroom. it was wonderful to stay...

Went to this restaurant yesterday, just lunch with a friend visiting from Hong Kong. We had the fish and chips, the fish was good, the chips however were way undercooked and hard. I complained and the meal was returned 10 minutes later, the chips had been recoiled and were now potato bullets and the fish was cold. Very poor, won't...
