This hotel was booked for us as a surprise so we weren't really sure what to expect. Upon arrival the hotel seemed nice enough, we were checked in quite quickly and given the keys to our room. The room was fine, nothing out of the ordinary but met our requirements for the weekend. The bed was unfortunately a bit too... More

What used to be a characterful country pub is now a good quality, affordable hotel. Still thatch roofed and located midway between Winchester and Romsey, it is ideal for tourists and pre or post cruise stays. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable although not air conditioned. Breakfast is first rate and service smiley and quick. We will certainly stay here... More

We have used the Potters Heron quite a number of times over the years. Last time was last week. Can't fault the hotel or service. The staff are all friendly and go out of their way to accommodate any requests. The restaurant is very nice and the food is varied and excellent value. We will definitely be back again. If... More

We were visiting the New Forest and chose this hotel to be near to the New Forest at a reasonable price. We had rooms 43 and 44. I think these are slightly better than the normal rooms. They were at the back corner of the hotel. They were spacious and had small balconies and a nice view. The staff were... More

Stayed here with friends on their third stay. Staff efficient and friendly, rooms very comfortable and clean and of a good size. Central heating and water hot when required. Large bed with good linen. Restaurant menu for evening and breakfast very good and varied to suit most tastes. Food presentation and quality excellent for this type of establishment. I have... More

Stayed for 1 night in October. The room didn't let in much light and was, for some reason painted in dark colours too, other than that it was small but comfortable with all the facilities needed e.g. flat screen t.v., decent hairdryer, nice toiletries and good hospitality tray. Unfortunately there was a wedding reception taking place and on our way... More

This is not your thatched local English pub, more in keeping with a Premier Inn but there the rooms are more modern. The heating system obviously runs by the calendar rather than a thermostat hence everywhere was like an oven, very uncomfortable. The food was fine, no complaints, nice dinner and good breakfast. But don't signed up for the DB&B... More

We stayed for two nights midweek, in the main hotel building. The room was a good size, comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. It was quiet so we had a decent sleep. We ate at the restaurant and found the food to be delicious, especially the pork belly! Wine was a reasonable price too. The reception staff were very efficient... More

Arrived after a long day at work, it's in a lovely location and a well presented reception and bar. Very friendly and welcoming staff, my room was 29 well laid out with enough room, pleasant colour scheme and a very comfy bed. The bathroom is in need of a facelift but very clean. Wifi is fast enough for to work... More

We booked Potters Heron on the basis of its location, a 15/20m drive away from Peppa Pig World. Upon arrival at the hotel, first impressions were good - the hotel looked cosy, warm, well lit from the outside and the member of staff on reception was very welcoming. We had two rooms, both for one night; one room was located... More
