Stayed one night in late October with my husband and paid to move hotel it was that bad! Dirty and smelly room, couldn’t get phone to charge in ANY of the sockets, no windows and no light in the bathroom...the list goes on! Can’t believe Jet2 have this on their books, I know it’s 2 star but seriously there should be some standards. Avoid like the plague!

Arrived 20th October 2019 and was left at hotel by the transfer with nobody their no key nothing for over one hour in the dark with several calls to jet2 emergency line who managed to get the owner out of bed arrived wasn't happy but did apologise to us... We then went to our room and was so shocked by the following: 1. broken shower head and holder 2. No window in bathroom to let light in as lights are broken and is so dark cannot see to use toilet shave etc.... 3. Electrical wires visible 4. Rusty fridge 5. Mould in places 6. Cupboards broken 7. Cupboard doors chipped and pealing vanier surface on them 8. Doors don't lock properly due to bent door in middle not secure 9. Electrical sockets don't work as couldn't get mobile phone to charge toothbrushes etc... And loose on wall 10. Mattress dirty and dated could feel EVERY spring and had no sleep. 11. No safety deposit box/safe in room it is located in reception don't feel safe. Jet2 rep visited day after to sort issues out was appalled herself by the issues we raised and saw for herself so noted all of the above having seen this herself first hand so to know that it was as bad as we said it was..... Do not know how this is on a holiday website needs taking off the books of jet2 and more..... We did get moved to a 3 star which is like a 4 star and we paid extra for this as this was no where near the standards of villa ritsa it is horrendous.... Please please be aware to make sure you check all the villa out before booking as it is deceiving as the outside looks so much better than the inside rather Sleep on the sunbeds much better......... See pictures of proof.

Villa Ritsa is wonderful! It was our first visit to Crete (2 couples) and we loved it! We were greeted with charm and courtesy. We left with many hugs, as friends. Our rooms were on the first floor, so lovely balconies to sit on. We each had three single beds, an under cabinet fridge/freezer, and a 2 burner hot plate. Each room also had a good selection of dishes, cutlery and pots/pans. If it wasn’t there, a simple request took care of it. Our rooms were cleaned every day, always bringing clean towels. Our bedding was changed. The floors mopped. The pool was gorgeous and spotlessly clean! Even after our one day of wind a rain, we awoke to a clean pool and patio area. We swam everyday. The was only a few minutes walk to the beach, markets, restaurants and tavernas. It seemed that the people of Crete couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome. We rented quad bikes for our own entertainment. You didn’t have to. There were buses, taxis, a little tourist train and a multitude of offered tours! We can’t thank Dimetrius, Pisti, Layla and Litsea enough for their care and laughter while we were there! A place for family and friends.

Room Tip: We preferred the first floor due to having a balcony but the ground floors had a patio.

Stayed here for 10 nights with my wife, upon arrival was met by the lovely Litsa who quite clearly loves meeting her guests and treats them all like family. Our room was very dated and in need of renovation, however if you book a 2 star hotel you don’t expect to stay at the ritz! But we had a rusty fridge and door hinges on the bathroom. The wardrobe smelt fusty so we kept our clothes in the cases or on the chairs in the room. The room was relatively clean and big enough for us with a great powerful shower. We were on the ground floor so had a small balcony/seating area at the rear of the room, which wasn’t very welcoming so I didn’t spend any time out there, shame as I like sitting on a balcony and watch the world go by! Some guests on the ground floor had trouble with ants, we didn’t personally but did encounter a few huge cockroaches walking around the grounds and 1 in our room in the night. We paid for air conditioning and it was in the 30s whilst there, but to be honest you don’t need it, due to the location of the hotel it doesn’t get direct sun through the doors or shutters. The pool area was clean but guests were leaving towels out at 11pm when we arrived! Which was never addressed. Overall we used the place as a base so wasn’t to fussed, but if you want a hotel for a family around the pool, there are better options out there based on its current condition. We never mentioned any of these issues to Litsa, so the hotel didn’t have a chance to do anything about it, however it’s clear the hotel needs an upgrade so wouldn’t of been able to do much to change it. Overall the staff are lovely, the hotels in a good location and we still enjoyed our stay! And hopefully Villa Rista will soon get some TLC!
