Cheneviere is an elegant property, set in gorgeous grounds (with mazing trees, an arborist fantasy really), in a perfect location for exploring Normandy. Every little detail is done right. Every touch is perfect. The staff is marvelous (special shout out to Beatrice, who oversees breakfast, but everyone there was superb). It is elegant and there is some sense of formality,...

We stayed here for 4 nights in May. We were touring all the D-day sites and the Chateaus location could not have been better. My wife was leery of all the WW2 places I wanted to visit. The minute she saw the Chateau she was a very happy partner. We had a beautiful room with wisteria dripping over our door....

The hotel setting is fabulous. It's quiet, welcoming and one of the best hotels we have visited in years. Everything was first class from the staff to the accommodations. The restaurant although expensive was also a delightful experience.

We have visited Normandy three times and always stay at Cheneviere. Nothing in the area comes close to the Chateau's beautiful rooms, lovely gardens, notable history, great location, sumptuous food and AWESOME swimming pool. The concierge Alban Chaubert is especially helpful for booking local guides, transportation and tours. Alban happily worked overtime to make our schedule sing. Front desk manager...

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful chateau this past fall and while we did not get to fully enjoy the property and all that it offered we did find it to be a beautiful welll appointed property for our Normandy trip. Very attentive staff and the 3 course dinner was unbelievable and a definite...

This hotel couldn't have been more amazing. Very friendly staff and incredible view of the countryside. The room was very spacious, with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had in a hotel. Sad we only stayed here one night. Can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I stayed for three nights at Chateau La Cheneviere earlier this month. I had a hard time finding a luxury-type hotel in this area (it was our 10 year anniversary) and when someone recommended this hotel, I was thrilled by what I saw online. And let me tell you, it was even more than I could have...

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the staff were so friendly and willing to help. The food at restaurant was amazing. The rooms are nice size and decorated very nice. Beds were comfortable. The hotel is near all of the D-Day beaches and the near by port town of Port-en-Bessin is worth a look as well as the nearby town of...

The Chateau La Cheneviere is as close to perfection as one might find on this earth. It is elegant, supremely comfortable, very convenient to a delightful small town as well as the D Day beaches and museums. This was our second visit; the first was more than a decade ago, and it is even lovelier than remembered. We had daily...

I stayed at La Cheneviere last week for one night and could not have had a better experience. The property is beautiful, the rooms and service are excellent, the food is amazing, and the location is very convenient. The proprietor happened to be in residence so I also had the good fortune to meet him and understand more about the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Add to that an opulent interior, spacious, elegant bedrooms. The dining room, overlooking the park, has a certain grandeur on an intimate scale, while classic cuisine allows you to explore all the distinctive flavours of Normandy, a generous and distinguished cuisine based on delicious local produce, faultless service, a heated outdoor pool, a splendid terrace, and the picture is complete... ... more   less
