A room with a good en suite bathroom? A comfy bed with fresh white cotton sheets and spare pillows? Peace and quiet? Two chairs and a desk? This is it! Throw in an excellent location, a curved classically French staircase with lopsided treads and a friendly patronne and you'll like the Lion d'Or. The associated brasserie offers perhaps over generous...

Very nice hosts, very central location in the center of the city, nearby food and drinks. Room was very well equipped and comfortable. We stayed for one night during a biking trip. My friend stranded because of a flat tire and the host suggested to pick him up, which was really helpful and friendly! Our bikes were stored safe overnight....

Full of character, lovely owners and very cosy little French hotel. Stay here every year when attending the Moto GP in May. We are welcomed very kindly. Food at breakfast is just what is needed at the start of the day and the bedrooms are very cosy and clean.

We stayed for 3nights as we were there for the Le Mans classic car event The room was fine if a bit cramped and we were given a good welcome Breakfast was a bit sparse The pub / restaurant in the same building and facing the square was great and we ate there on 2 evenings Ok but not great

Imagine two wet cyclists, arriving a bit late on a Saturday evening - some hotels would not be happy with that. We had booked, but the rooms could have been sold lots of times. The town was busy. However Mme La Patronne kept our booking and we had a good shower and a good night's sleep. She even washed and...

This hotel is nicely situated on the large main square and rooms on that side are surprisingly very quiet. Rooms are reasonably appointed and shower-rooms adequate and clean. Staff quite helpful but not bubbly or engaging unfortunately. Our bed was comfortable & firm. We had three windows over-looking the square. Local restaurants are adequately provided for within a short distance....

This hotel has a wonderful central location and our room looked out over the square which was always a bustling with comings and goings. The room was fine, as was the bathroom, but poor lighting - a feature of so many French hotels - take a clip on light for your Kindle! No tea or coffee making kit and no...

A one night stop on our way from Caen to Monte Carlo. Very warm welcome, help with parking car a rear of premises. We had a twin room on the front overlooking the square. The room was light and airy. A bit noisy on Saturday night/Sunday morning but this was because there was a music festival locally and everyone was...

We decided to take a few days away from Paris and picked Nogent le Rotrou as being near Chartres and close to Perche Regional Park. We chose the Lion d'Or on the basis of (a few) positive reviews on Trip Advisor. The welcome by Mme Vilain was very friendly and she was helpful in suggesting restaurants and things to do....

This was an overnight stop in a town we'd never heard of on the way from Dinan to Chartres - and we enjoyed ourselves! Certainly not a glitzy place, rather shabby to look at but our room was quite spacious, airy and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was adequate and clean. Our welcome was friendly and efficient. And there is...
