We booked this last minute (walked in day of) and were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and clean, and the vibe was great. Balcony was very inviting. We got a private room with bathroom. Price and location were perfect. We were bummed when it was full the next night and we had to go somewhere else!

The good: Owner orients you when you get there, B'fast is decent with scrambled eggs, toast, fruit and cereal prepared by the daughters. The showers are hot and the location is on the main "triangle" close to 2 grocery stores, pharmacy, food vendors and restaurants. The bad: the common area is dark & poor for meeting other travellers. TV is...

I stayed here one night only because I was there in the beginning of January and everything was fully booked ( High season) . Rooms are very basic but I liked it. No special things but rooms are spacious and there are big lockers. It is the cheapest hostel I found in Monteverde and the rooms are more than ok....

Upon reading the reviews I expected more from this hostel. The rooms and facilities were average at best, particularly for the price of a private room. Dorm prices are more reasonable, but for slightly more you have get a lot better with other hostels. Plus points are the location and breakfast.

I went there for 3 nights and stayed for 6. This is not really a "hostel" but rather a small family ran hotel, and a wonderful family at that. The included breakfast is an awesome bonus. Tea or coffee, toast, eggs, cereal and fresh fruit. Clearly, one of the best and most complete free breakfasts to be had. The location...

Nice hostel, the rooms were fine, there were hot showers and a shared kitchen. Breakfast was included, maybe not the best och funniest breakfast but it was okay. The staff was adorable and so so nice! They helped us a lot, which restaurants we should try and how to go to Monteverde, and shuttle to LA Fortuna. Stay here!

I recently stayed in sleepers with two friends in a private room. It was by far the best value for money in Santa Elena, great for backpackers on a budget! Breakfast was also included and was really good. The family are so lovely and accommodating and very helpful with any queries we had. I would definitely recommend this hostel.
