We had a great 2 night stay here at Pension Santa Elena. all the time we were there we found the staff very helpful and they let me use the phone several times to check on shuttle and planning further down the line. There was...More
This pension as an extraordinary number of positive reviews and they are all well deserved. Staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable in helping you book all your tours that they don't receive kickbacks for. When I arrived, I was given a map and shown where...More
I should qualify this by saying that if you're coming to Monteverde for a relaxing time, you probably shouldn't be staying in Santa Elena at all. With steep one-way streets and lots of trucks and motos, it's incredibly noisy for such a small place, at...More
Wonderful Hostel. Clean and friendly, with Staff that goes out of its way to help you shape your adventure. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, will be back. First backpacking experience for my 13 yo, who loved it, but the place was equally welcoming for families, singles,...More

I would like to know what is included in the free breakfast. Also, is the shuttle service free? Does the shuttle transport guests to tours?

As the other respondent said, the shuttle is not free, but I can't really imagine it would be as Santa Elena is way up in the mountains. A resort close to the airport could have a free shuttle theoretically, but I never saw any free shuttles really. There are plenty of transportation options for tours and activities. Sometimes the place that you get the tour will send transport or the kind folks at the pension can help arrange things for you.
