A group of our friends were looking for a nice first getaway after the Covid lockdown and came across Beach Grove Villas. We were pleased to discover on arrival a cozy setting of clustered rooms amongst a lush green landscape just about 800m inland from the beach. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and pleasantly, for many a smaller beach resort, ultra clean and sparkling. We had one of the upper deck rooms which had great views as well. The service by the owner Asoka and team was great, with good attention to detail, very friendly and accommodating. The rice and curry lunch as well as Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent with a. Variety of dishes to choose from and very fresh and tasty.
In our opinion, Beach Grove Villa is the best place to stay in Unawatuna! We had an extended stay in Sri Lanka and Unawatuna became our favorite coastal location. Preferring it to Hikkaduwa and Mirissa. We stayed in several hotels during our stay and couldn’t recommend Beach Grove Villa more highly. It is kept very clean, which we found was a big issue with most accommodation in the area. The hotel does live up to the online pictures, the rooms are light, tall and airy, they come with ceiling fans and good air con. Beds and pillows are also comfortable. However, as others have mentioned the WiFi performance was patchy. What we liked most about the Villas is the openness of the grounds with wide covered balconies, well kept gardens and two swimming pools, you never felt on-top of your neighbours, as the rooms were well spaced. The Villas were set on the side of a small slope and overlooked a rice field so you were a decrete distance away from any noisy road which gave the venue a quiet relaxed atmosphere. There are peacocks in the garden as well as all the other beautiful fauna found in Sri Lanka. The local beaches were a 10/15min walk away with several pretty options. Wijia and Mihiripenna beach ended up being our favorites. Alternatively, a tuk-tuk driver could be called or was never hard to find who could take you in 10 mins to the main Unawatuna beach cove and it’s restaurants. The Villa was well located in our opinion away from the noise and crowds of the main beach but still quick and easy by tuk-tuk. Finally, we have to mention how friendly and attentive the hotel owner, Asoka and his staff are. They felt genuine people who care about your stay and the owner would go out of his way to be helpful. The cleaners were always polite and smiley. The Chef, Sarat, was great and we loved his food, we would recommend you pre-order fish or seafood, which is local and always bought fresh that day, it was by far, tastier and better value for money than the restaurants on the main beach. We are sure to return to Beach Grove Villas when we next return to Sri Lanka.…
Everything was just great! Place is surrounded by palm trees and greens which makes this complex so enjoyable and peaceful. Owner and staff so helpful. Rooms were big and clean. Amazing swimming pool. Location just perfect. Fresh fruits for breakfast. Highly recommended. I hope we will come back soon!
We stayed originally in another hotel which was really bad. Then we found this hotel and called to the manager. He said that we could come by to take a look at the rooms and arrange anything and man what a great stay!! The people are really friendly and the rooms were great. My mother in law had a great room and my husband and I had the private pool room which was perfect. Nice pool & really private. Absolutely enjoyed our 2 days here. Bathrooms/showers are great, everything was there. Away from all the busyness in Unawatuna Centre but still really close. Every night, when my mother in law left our room, the night guard guided her back safely to her room and that made her feel so comfortable! They also arranged a good place to sleep for our driver which was really nice since we booked everything last minute. Really happy we stayed here instead of the other hotel! I would definitely come back when I’m in Unawatuna again. …
Group of 2 females and 2 males. Spent 3 weeks travelling round Sri Lanka and spent the last 4 nights at Beach Grove Villas. The villas are lovely and the pools are great. The separate sections of villas have their own pools. The villas are a 5 - 10 minute walk (~ 600 m) from the nearest beach and a 5 minute tuk tuk/ scooter ride to Unawatuna. Lots of restaurants and things to do in Unawatuna. Villas are in a very quiet location and nice to relax by the pool and explore the local area. All staff are brilliant and extremely nice and helpful. They will do anything to help you during your stay. Had the breakfast included and was great. I recommend hiring scooters, which gives you more flexibility in travelling around and avoids the constant cost of tuk tuks.
