My time at Amma's guesthouse was a treat. Lucky and Pemma were wonderful hosts - Pemma would make me tea every morning and Lucky took me out for a morning run on the beach. They offered a comfortable stay which was a little taste of home. The main highlight is the second floor terrace overlooking the beach with large colonial...

I went to this guesthouse due to it great price For the area. The shared balcony is lovely and has a lovely view of the sea. The room initially looked good. It was very basic but appeared clean. No hot water but it was so cheap I didn't mind. When getting into bed I noticed loads of bits and to...

This may be silly but I am reviewing this place after MANY years of visiting... Just saw this place reviewed here and thought I'd throw my positive thoughts too...despite from having visited Unawatuna/Amma's Guest House in 1999 and 2001!! (I had to click something on the "when did you travel and the oldest was Nov 2014...) Back then it was...

Basic rooms with well water and wifi only across the road. But these things were acknowledged and price was built into that. Hot tea every morning was great and we stayed out too late one night and had to be late in through the gate but this was no issue for the hosts who were great. Thank you lucky and...

Great budget guesthouse, across a small road from the beach, excellent location. Rooms are simple but comfortable. The couple that own the guesthouse are brilliant, full of knowledge to help with any query you may have. Highly recommend a stay here :)

First a correction on the hotel name; it is called Amma's not Amma'a. It is a basic, cheap but clean hotel in between the more massive touristic hotels of Unawatuna. Good stay for backpackers. Just across the main beach entrance, and a nice balcony with sea view.

We stopped here for 5 nights. If you are like us and travelling on a budget and not looking for frills in your accommodation then this is the place for you. Spacious rooms with private bathrooms (cold shower) and a good communal balcony overlooking the beach. Grab yourself some fruit for breakfast and the lovely couple that run the place...

Simple room with great value. The owner is very friendly providing chai in morning! Chachi is so nice to give a good price on the room if you stay longer. View from the terrace is facing right towards the beach. Very easy access cross the road you are on the seaside! No wifi no hot water. But it worth what...

This place is a good budget option for Unawatuna. The rooms are simple with mosquito nets. It's across from the beach. The staff are great. There are Iguanas in the garden. For food the beach is overpriced for what it is, but take the bus to Galle and ask a local where's good..

Spend 3 nights at Amma's. Rooms are basic with fan,net and cold shower. But everything was clean. Also a nice balkony facing to the beach can be used. Owners are awesome and provide tea and coffee whenever you want! Would definitely stay there again!
