I stayed for 3D2N and got an special offer during the low season. The room is nice, but has a very limited lights :') You will see live monkeys gang fight right in front of your open area room, kinda fun but scared at the same time. Bfast was amazingggggggggggggggggggggg. Coffee was really outstandingggggggggg. And the hosts are very niceeeeeeeee. And it is close to the beach.

Such a shame, beautiful place, serving the best cappuccino, with great staff and a different menu but very over priced and not accommodating for people with food intolerance, the chef would not deviate from the menu even though they had all of the ingredients. You also have to pay extra for WiFi on top of the already high prices!

Unbelievable place for accommodation, food and welcome. The staff are amazing. The Ocean Suite balcony is so relaxing…listening to the waves, watching the monkeys and waiting for endless sunsets. Thank you.

Ramesh, sachintha and Hadith are the friendliest and accompanying people you’ll meet. We loved the breakfast and iced coffee so much so we went every day. We came here twice during our stay in Dickwella. The location itself is really great, right next to the beach with a nice view of the sea, it‘s beautifully designed with a modern mix of industrial and boho elements. Drinks were good, the food is of course pricey compared to more local/traditional restaurants but we did enjoy the smoothie bowl and tofu scramble. BUT Verse needs to improve their service. Throughout our trip through Sri Lanka we‘ve learned that traditionally Sri Lankan people prefer talking to the male part of a couple and don‘t address the woman as much. But in a place that presents itself as very modern, laidback and progressive like Verse Collective I expect this to be different. They obviously cater towards (western) tourists and should treat their customers accordingly. When I, as a woman, asked for a drink from the menu, the staff behind the bar actually turned towards my (male) partner and replied „I‘m sorry, it‘s not available, SIR. The machine is broken.“. He continued talking to my partner while I was standing right in front of him instead of talking to me directly. Every other staff we encountered during our two visits also exclusively said „Good Morning, sir“/„How are you, sir?“. I hope they can improve their attitude towards women because misogyny does not go well with the laidback and chill vibe they‘re trying to portray.…

Verse has really thought about how to create an environment for travellers to work from with great space for quiet working combined with a lovely cafe serving tasty food ( we has dumplings and the Kong Poa chicken burgers and potatoes wedges). Great salted caramel pina coladas (no where near as sweet as they sound!). Given the current virtually daily power cuts in Sri Lanka of up to 5 hours, Verse seems to have a good generator so it’s Wi-Fi is stable which is essential if you need a place to work from. well done Verse.

The tofu salad had no flavour whatsoever and the chickpeas were like bullets. Really disappointing that they couldn't manage to inject some flavour from dressings or other vegetables and herbs. The BBQ tofu had no taste at all.

Verse Collective is WOW at first sight. Right across the beach and do well done up. Big open space with an attractive menu, but the food was disappointing. We called for an avocado on toast, something no one can go wrong with. The bread was a thing dry slice with guacamole which was tasteless and under seasoned. We also called for an egg dish, which was average. The dishes are pricey compared to other cafes but portions were large. With the below average food, one must visit Verse only for a cup of coffee or a drink to enjoy the Ambiance

A Nice place but I dont recommend this restaurant. We waited 1 hour to finally have the burger . It Was served Cold with 5 pieces of potatos wedges they call it . Not generous in quantity and medium quality. We didnt Get the bottle of water we ordered .

Aweful experience! The location is nice, but we waited over 1.5 hours to get our food (two salads). Even after asking friendly twice, the waiters made no effort at all. When it finally came, the portions were super small. You have to pay extra for the wifi, the music is too loud. Really dissapointed.. Don’t come here - it’s not worth it!
