Fort Murchison gives you many options; we chose the room with a view and a private bath. Th staff, food and rooms are all 4 star. The allure of the Nile at sunset just one of the many choice moments. Rustic elegance for the safari bound visitor.

We stayed for 2 nights in March 2017. The twin room in one of the lodges was excellent, rather basic, but very clean and well maintained. The rooms were sprayed each night and nets put around beds. The food (breakfast and dinner) really was excellent with dinner being 4-courses. On the first night the catering staff went out of their...

This is a good hotel. Its pictures on trip advisor at present do it an injustice – they don’t look very good and are not professional, but the place looks much better when you arrive. Food is amazing (set 4 course menu, large portions, different each night), clean and spacious rooms (with solar generated electricity overnight only). There is a...

Fort Murchison is very nice and small lodge on the banks of the river Nile. It is located about 30 minute drive from the gates of the Murchison Falls natural park at the end of a very bumpy road. Food at the lodge is surprisingly good but there is not many choices available on the menu - usually just meat...

Stayed here for two nights in January. We had simple tent with just two beds and chairs outside. Toilet and shower were near in the separate building and they were spotlessly clean and always available, no problem using them. What a shame that we had so limited time here and we barely saw the camp during daylight. What we saw...

Beautiful view on the nile, fantastic rooms with a fan with a balcony. Good restaurant with fixed meal of 4 courses (15 euro), Also vegetarian is possible. A few km from MNP. Great service. The complex is built like a fort.

In a nice location by the river. Basic rooms and tents, accessible only with a 4x4 vehicle. Great food at the restaurant. No wifi or other connectivity available to guests. Quite hot in the tents at night, and also found a large spider in the tent.

The staff were polite, welcoming and very attentive. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. We had a fantastic view over the river, staying in one of the lodges with a balcony. The food was excellent - you certainly wont go hungry! The staff catered for a vegetarian diet no problem, though they do need to be advised In advance...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set on the Eastern banks of the slow flowing Albert Nile, Fort Murchison revokes the idea of a well maintained isolated outpost from times where Arab traders frequented the African hinterlands and legendary explorers lead expeditions in search of the source of the Nile. Accommodation in Fort Murchison consists of 12 ensuite units boasting spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds, bathrooms with countertop basins and showers with plenty hot water from solar heaters, private balconies... The atmosphere is a mix of African luxury with a touch of Swahili style. Away from the main accommodation, Fort Murchison also offers a more budget option in the form of some non self contained tents. Furnished with 2 single beds the tents share communal ablution blocks. Fort Murchison is situated in the former Aswa Lolim Game reserve, just outside the northern park boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park. The proximity to Tangi gate makes it a perfect gateway for convenient game driving through the park. ... more   less
