Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very friendly welcome and a clean and comfortable room was greatly appreciated when we arrived a little late. Our room was spacious with a very handy kitchenette. The bed was super comfy and the location very quiet. Well located to explore gem locales.

Great place to stay in the heart of Queensland's gem region. This was our second stay at the Rubyvale Motel Holiday Units and each visit has been positive and delightful. The rooms are scrupulously clean, well appointed and offer what seems to be the best accommodation option in the area. Unfortunately we didn't have an observatory "experience" due to phase of the moon, but I'm sure anyone interested in the stars would not be disappointed.

Beautifully appointed rooms, set just out of Rubyvale with heaps of birds and wildlife. Michael and Jane also run a sapphire mine and sell the gorgeous gems. Short drive to the miners museum and fossicking for the day. Jane's gardens have created a haven for birds, wallabies and roos.. and if you a lucky, one of the little swamp wallabies will come close to check you out.

Of all the places we stayed on our outback road trip odyssey I’d say this was our favourite. A delightful bush setting, complete with daily visits from the very friendly & extremely cute mum, dad & joey pretty faced wallaby family (or black face we weren’t totally sure). Very private setting if you wished, or chat with your friendly fellow travellers at the end of the day out the front of your unit. Very easily accessible to Rubyvale for a pub meal & just up the road, walking distance to an excellent underground mine complete with the cutest microbats you’ve ever seen. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and very well appointed with everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly.

We stayed with Michael and Jane for the best part of 10 years. As always the wallabies gave us a good show, the bird life is abundant and they will come very close especially when you sit under the verandah. Even Jasper the dog will visit for his daily pat. At night time we usually sat outside to watch the stars and we saw 3 shooting stars, it was amazing. Thanks again for a wonder stay.

A warm and friendly welcome on arrival and throughout my stay. Jane made me feel like a friend from the first meeting. My unit was beautifully appointed with an incredibly comfortable bed, a fantastic shower and gorgeous sitting/kitchen area. Outdoor seating and a visit from a cute wallaby with her Joey was a memorable experience. I'll definitely be back to stay even longer next time. Five days wasn't enough. Thankyou Jane and Michael, your hospitality and gorgeous accommodation will always be a wonderful memory of the time I spent in Rubyvale.

Dropped into Rubyvale for a look around and stayed the night at the Rubyvale Motel & Holiday Units. Jane was a wealth of knowledge and gave me more than enough information to navigate my way around the area. Room was great, cannot fault this place and recommend to anyone looking for accommodation whilst visiting the Rubyvale, Sapphire and Gemfields region.

What a charming location just a few minutes drive from the centre of town. Beautifully kept grounds and with units spread out. The hosts were pleasant and informative. The one bedroom unit was immaculate and spacious with lovely welcoming touches. It was very comfortable and suited weary travellers and those who just wanted to chill out. Our few days were delightful. In fact, we just enjoyed relaxing with the view, the birds and the pool. Definitely a great play to stay during a trip up the centre of Queensland.

This motel is a gem - a very sparkly one! We stayed in two places in Rubyvale, this being the second, and by far the superior. A warm, friendly welcome awaits you both from Jane and her staff. The surroundings are gorgeous and wildlife abounds. Don't worry - no threatening ones - just beautiful birds and pretty faced wallabies! We had a self contained villa, which proved to be a home away from home. Everything we needed was right there at our finger tips - sizeable fridge, microwave, cooktop AND an oven! There is even a guest laundry, with washing machine and dryer freely available - plus your own washing line and pegs! Jane is truly a great host. She has thought of everything. Added to this, you will want to take time to look at her beautiful jewellery, right there at the reception area - her own "cutting edge" designs. No pressure - Jane is happy for you to browse! But you will be tempted - I promise you that! Our stay at Rubyvale Motel was a truly, memorable experience - and we will definitely be back!
