We stayed here for their New Year celebration as part of a coach party. The hotel is in a beautiful location within easy walking distance of the village and was nicely decorated for the festive season with spectacular coloured lights, tastefully used. Cleanliness is impeccable and the service is prompt, cheerful and efficient. Our room and en-suite was clean, comfortable...

The room was very spacious with a nice large bathroom. There was even a porch area where we could store our things and hang our coats. Unfortunately, the WiFi was absolutely atrocious. It was almost not worth having, it was that slow. Basic websites hardly even worked. It became workable sometimes, but it was so sporadic it was intolerable. Also,...

Traveling back from Xmas in the north of Scotland and found Aviemore was fully booked and The Rowan Tree not open, so traveled on to Kingussie / Newtonmore where I thought there might be more hotels. This one had the most cars parked so I chose it, friendly and helpful staff, quite nice room and facilities. The food in the...

Had to write to comment on Mark W's review entitled "Horrendous" of the Highlander. We could not have been staying at the same place. He makes it sound terrible, which it definitely is not. We have stayed three times using 'itison' vouchers, because the hospitality offered for the price could not be faulted. Can only think that Mark W is...

This was a winter trip to the Cairngorms, so I booked a couple of nights at the Highlander as it had good reviews for being dog-friendly. From the minute I phoned to get the best rate (definitely do this), to my arrival on a Sunday late afternoon, the welcome and customer service was routinely amazing with such attention to detail....

Very basic queen size bed with main road view and big bathroom with narrow shower space, room heater is working very very well. TV is small. Free WiFi but need to get password from front desk. Coffee and tea maker in the room. Breakfast is normal but waiters and waitresses are good friendly and polite. Car park space considered enough...

We bought an itison voucher for this hotel due to the low price, although now we realise you get what you pay forThis was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life, this hotel was worse than a lot of hostels I have been to. The hotel is like stepping into a time machine to the 70s. The decor...

While everyone has an opinion and expectations are different for everyone we really feel that many of your comments are unfair. We take both the individual traveller and coach groups of all ages here - at the end of the day everyone is entitled to a holiday. As for your comments we do stock malt whiskies and our selection features...

Excellent room. Newly refurbished shower, toilet facilities with high quality figments. Comfortable bed, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Food, both breakfast and dinner was well cooked with a standard 3 course meal in the evening. Coffee was included and the whole stay represented excellent value for money. Very helpful and attentive staff. Thank you. Hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For true Highland hospitality come to the Highlander, a hotel renowned for its good food and warm welcome. The hotel is an ideal base for touring the North of Scotland with mountain ranges, forests, lochs and river valleys waiting to be explored. Wind down in our inviting restaurant serving an array of dishes made from locally sourced produce.
