Hotel Cerro de Hijar is in a stunning location. The winding road leading up from Tolox town just fabulous and there at the top the lovely looking hotel sits with fabulous views. But it went downhill from there. There was no-one around, the service wasn´t particularly polite or helpful when it arrived and the lounge where we sat with our...

A review is about words. But sometimes words aren't enough to describe scenery, sensations, smells. Cerro de Hijar in Tolox is a very, very special place. It is difficult to find - which is probably no bad thing as part of its magic is where it is - but once discovered the stunning location, the stillness, the clean air all...

I will not write about the hotel even though we stayed there last year and came back to have Sunday lunch after goodly climb up from the hotel. It was a glorious day, very few walkers, silence, stunning views from the top. Lunch was great too, cuisine worthy of an expensive restaurant. Food was cooked to perfection, I even had a dessert...

Spectacular position, 3.5km up a winding steepish road from Tolox. We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel has a really relaxed feel to it. The rooms are stone floored and the corridors quite echoey, and you can hear exactly what is happening next door. On one side we had what sounded like a washing machine which worked through most nights...

The hotel is a beautifull building and well maintained, as well as the beautiful garden and swimming pool. Then the hospitality, the service and the food is great as well. Everything i asked for was no problem at all. You...

Don't expect armies of staff, vogue styling, perfect decor and a rammed bar: if this is important to you go elsewhere. If you want a charming country hotel in an amazing out of the way location, inexpensive rates with great food and personal service this is for you.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cerro de Hijar. It's great value, we recommend it. We booked a room for one night well in advance. We got a nice, spacy room with great a great view. Staff was professional and heartful. Diner was excellent. When going there, don't be fooled by your GPS into the village of Tolox. Just follow...

Having booked a 2 night stay here, we were really looking forward to staying in this little hideaway up in the mountains. I should start by saying that the (very remote) location is stunning and its hard to think of better views. So, the positives were - great view, lovely old building. Sadly the negatives far outweigh these. From the...

Having found this hotel on a hostel website we were not sure what to expect....but we got there and realised it was not in any way a hostel. After staying there for just a few days on the first trip we decided to come back the next summer for a longer period of time and it was still as beautiful....
