We visited Royal Sunset Island Resort on a Sunday when everything on Tongatapu closes for the day.
A short boat trip and a very friendly greeting on the jetty and a nice cold drink. It was explained we had free range of the island and their equipment.
The island is very pretty w

As everything was closed on Sunday, we chose to take a day trip out to the Royal Sunset Island Resort on Atata Island. It involved a short ferry ride out to the island, but once there you can do as little or as much as you like. The resort is tidy, clean and comfortable with lo

Thank you for take the time to review your experience with the resort. Glad you enjoyed your day trip, even if the boat return was not that pleasant. Yes our Skipper is very skilled and an accomplished fisherman, and knows the way for our guests safety. We always try to treat our Day Guests like if they were fully House Guests, with the same hospitality and service you deserve. Hope we can welcome you again for overnight stay. Malo

Came to the downtown dock at 9:45am and had our bags loaded on board the old ferry to the resort island. We had five minutes to use the dock toilets and see the fish market stalls. The high speed trip over to Atata took only about a half hour. Much of the distance was taken up in

Thank you very much for a very informative and realistic review of our resort. We will in detail review all points so we can improve on our service and facilities. As you state we were hit by a very severe cyclone - "Gita" and our Island was one of the first one to be hit. No Support, No Help were received by anyone and with the Village we helped and survived. Not to say that Insurance did not pay anything. Thank you once against for your patronage. We will try to improve our services and facilities. Malo

I took the day tour to this island on a Sunday as almost everywhere was closed.

It was a great way to spend the day!

Started with a great 30 min boat ride to the island. We received a complimentary drink upon arrival.

Once our free lunch order was placed, we were free to roam

Hi! We are booked in to stay with you for a few nights and we arrive at the Tongatapu airport July 14th at 10:30am. We have requested airport transfers but haven’t heard back. Are you able to let us know if someone will be there to collect us or should we arrange our own transport? Many thanks!
Thank you for your request. Yes we can organise your pick up from Airport at 10.30AM. I suppose it is from the Domestic Airport? Could we have your name as per your reservation Sorry for the inconvenience and delay for responding. (except for direct email - all our other social media and online booking media are not managed directly at the resort) Our Email is royalsun@kalianet.to Malo and Looking forward to welcome you

how much is the boat transfer from the main island? and is there good snorkelling with out the boat ride?
Day Trip TOP70.- per person which includes Return Transfers, Welcome Drink, Lunch and Snorkelling Trip to the Reef. Depart from 10AM return around 4.30PM. Free use of Hotel watersport and facilities Otherwise Transfer One Way is TOP29 Yes you can snorkel from the beach but there are some "Limu" seaweed to go through before arriving to the reef. Hope it answers your questions.

Are all the fales beachfront? How much is the cost of transport from the airport(late arrival) to the island?
Thank you for your question. All Fales are Beachfront. Some like Fale Atata and Fale 6 are closer to the beach. For late arrival we do not recommend Night Transfer as it is subject to the weather and night visibility. Our normal transfers are 10AM, 5PM. Please send us an Email at royalsun@kalianet.to for more details.

My name is Lucio, I will be in Tonga from 7 to 11 of July. I would like to dive as much as I can. Please could you let me know if you have scuba diving programs for this days Also I am really interesting to dive or swimming with whales.
Dear Lucio, Thank you for your message. Yes Scuba Diving can be organised during your stay, there are few companies we work with. Same with Whales - While Scuba Diving and if opportunity arise this can be done. Otherwise a whale watching and swim can be organised seperately - of course depending on whales. It is only the beginning of the Whales season in Tongatapu, Malo and welcome soon to Tonga
