I loved my stay at Journey hostel. The location is perfect; there are several beautiful remote beaches nearby and a few local surf spots. On the way to the beach you can spot several different types of monkeys only minutes from the hostel. The place itself is beautifully constructed by bamboo and woven palm fronds. The hostel blends nicely into the mountainside and provided incredible views. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful. They were always willing to help in any way possible. I would recommend this place to anyone!
It's a really nice hostel, the dorms are open and the view is great. There's contact with nature, but keep in mind that you're by the highway. Location is good for going to tayrona and doing some hikes nearby. On the site they warn you that you might be without internet, but they don't mention that the hostel has energy problems as well. During four days, twice without power, one time over half a day. Bring cash because you might not be able to use credit card without power, also they charge extra 6% for that which they told me only in check out. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but some new people were learning, so one of the staff sold me four drinks on happy hour and I ended up paying all of them instead of two, which turned out quite expensive. Food is great.
This place was really cool even though its under construction. I stayed here in a private room in November with my boyfriend. The room was like a treehouse hut style with a private bathroom. The rooms from the room were 10/10. The food was awesome, every night was a different home cooked meal. The staff and volunteers were always so helpful & friendly. You could literally walk to the main entrance to Tayrona from the hostel, its pretty close. 20 minutes tops. The bus stops here if you hail it every 20 minutes or so. If you go to Tayrona, make sure you book the Journey Hostel! You can catch the bus to Palomino as well, its very easy andcheap

My two friends and I visited Journey Hostel in July of 2019 and had absolutely wonderful end to our 2.5 week backpacking adventure. The staff is incredibly welcoming and we instantly became friends. Some of our favorite moments were hanging out, singing with a guitar in the newly-built bar area after a long day of hiking and swimming. The hostel is very close to the entrance of Tayrona park. In addition, there are plenty of other (outside of park) beach (and one waterfall) hikes. The staff gave us ideas and directions for how to plan our days and even took us on a secret beach hike on our final morning. We honestly wished we could have stayed at Journey for another week--if felt like home. Luna, the owner, was a life-saver and helped us figure out a big issue with our flight on the day we were leaving. Thanks to Luna, Joyce, Henri, Kate, Michael, and all the other staff members. <3 Rylie, Milly, and Madison…
