Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and liked that lifeguards patrolled the beach near the Hotel. We were disappointed that there was no daily room service for the nightly price of the studio. Limited place to hang towels as towels were not replaced until after our third night. We were happy to save water and reuse towels but they should provide more hanging space. Room air conditioner and fan were malfunctioning and no plug provided for the bathroom basin. There was reference made in places to refer to the compendium in our room but we couldn’t find one. We (3 people) went to utilise the restaurant and were told, at 7:30pm that they couldn’t fit us in until 8:00pm but only 2 of us. The restaurant was not even half full. Another couple who had come before us were also turned away and were unimpressed. We we were also told Wood fired pizzas were unavailable due to the fire bans. We had to then drive to the Entrance to get dinner. Overall Magenta shores was nice but for the price will need to address these issues before we would return.

We selected a studio room for an overnight stay, mostly because the property has an indoor pool (necessary in winter). While the time we had and the weather prevented us from fully enjoying the resorts facilities, it was a pleasant visit and we are keen to return when the weather is more appropriate for a beach-front break.
We should also mention the service – great friendly staff who, within the confines of COVID-safety, were very welcoming and helpful.
Like most accommodation, COVID-19 presents a challenge for the hotel. Menus are limited, access to facilities tightly controlled and staff masked. We have to live with it but it can impact on your experience.
Now one minor complaint – pay for use WiFi! It’s not acceptable and its only price gouging. I’ve encountered pay for use WiFi more often in Australia, than just about anywhere else in the world. It stuns me that a 1 star place in East Timor can provide free WiFi but not 5 star Australian hotels.

Situated not far from the Entrance, this resort venue is like a standalone community than your standard hotel. We stayed in a 2 BR villa, with 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and a large relaxed living area. Most of our meals were in the Pullman restaurant, which were of a high standard. There was no buffet breakfast due to Covid, however a la carte breakfast was still very good, but lacked the variety one typically enjoys on holidays. Hopefully buffets will return in due course. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and tennis court, and Magenta beach itself is a short but difficult walk on soft sand. Some type of hard boardwalk would aid in making this a more accessible amenity. Overall, this was a great family base to enjoy the Centrsl Coast attractions, highly recommend if you can book at a good value rate per night.

We stayed in a Studio King Room for 2 nights. Premium prices paid but the experience didn't feel premium at all :( Where do I even begin:
1. We were so shocked to find cockroach in the bathroom! Cockroach spray was left in the room - please resolve the pest problem rather than having your guests fend for themselves :(
2. We ordered room service (pasta $31, fried chicken burger $24) which arrived quickly and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente but it tasted really bland (I couldn't taste the truffle at all!) and the burger had the buns partially burnt and the quality of the fries could be improved (it was thickly cut but was undercooked so the potatoes were tough and not crunchy). For $55 for two meals we expected the quality of the food to be a lot better. Food came in takeaway containers which diminished the dining experience even more but the rooms did have plates and utensils available, which brings us to points 3 and 4
3. There's no daily housekeeping. For a 5 star hotel I would have thought this was standard... I understand this is for the sake of being eco friendly, but it might be better if guests can just opt out of daily housekeeping should they choose rather than not have it at all
4. As there is no daily housekeeping you'd basically need to clean used dishes yourself (Dish soap and sponge provided in the room - the last thing I thought I'd be doing during a 5 star hotel stay is the dishes...)
5. No 24 hour reception. We got back to our room pretty late on our first night and we realised that there were no toothbrushes in the bathroom. I understand that a lot of hotels only provide toothbrushes upon request nowadays, but as the reception is not 24 hours we had no choice but to drive to 7/11 in the middle of the night in search of toothbrushes and toothpaste
6. Curtains, walls and carpets are stained. Room and bathroom need a serious refresh. Swimming pools were a bit of a let down
7. Don't think the rooms have any soundproofing, so expect to get woken up by your neighbours' loud door banging
8. The only saving grace for us was the access to a private beach and the location is pretty good, only 10 minutes away from the town centre
I've never written a hotel review in my life, but this is the first time we've been seriously disappointed by a "5 star hotel" that I felt the need to post a review to share our experience. This feels like a 3 star hotel (at best) masquerading as a 5 star hotel :(

We received the normal very high standard of Accor hospitality in this resort, which caters for both golfers and non-golfers. All staff coving reception, Shallows Bar and the main restaurant were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. All Covid-19 safety guidelines were followed. We stayed in a three bedroom apartment which was very spacious, contemporary and very well equipped. Our friends stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was beautifully appointed, spacious and spotlessly clean throughout. The accommodation is to a very high standard. The meals served in the Shallows Bar offer a great choice at very competitive prices. So even though the main restaurant is only open from Thursday to Sunday, the Shallows Bar offers an excellent alternative in an informal setting.

We have been here 2 times a few years back and had a great time so thought we would visit again. We Stay here for 2 nights in a 3 bedroom villa.
The Good
Location is 1hr from Sydney.
Spacious villa and rooms
Nice pool for kids
close to entrance town centre
Nice view of golf course
Air conditioning easy to use
The Bad
The rooms are a little dated than I remember.
Furniture is dated and needs updating
Blinds were coming off rollers, light bulbs not working
The dishwasher was really bad...not easy to use and when i did figure it out, it did not clean anything, so had to hand wash everything again with the little dishwashing soap provided.
For a 3 bedroom villa which sleeps 6 guests, only 4 dinner plates provided? But there is like 20 forks and 20 spoons and 20 knives...Doesn’t make sense.
Beach behind the villas is nice but not suitable for swimming for adults or children so no point going to the beach
Overall i gave 3/5 as it’s not really 5 stars as you expect and pay for. I would still recommend it if you can get a weekday room rate and you can overlook the indiscretions. However I wouldn’t stay during peak school holiday periods or weekends due to the high price. I would question the 5 star rating though...as you expect top quality all around for 5 stars. Possible downgrade to a 4 star at best.

A very large resort with many many rooms. It seems alot of people actually live there permanently. U need a car to get to reception if you want to go to the gym, indoor pool or restaurants if your room is located at the end of the wing. The pool was very disappointing in that it was small and location was out of the way. I feel they should have more then 2 small pools for size of the spread out resort.
I paid for the kids package $30 and there was no value there. He just got to make a free small pizza. He was charged $15 breakfast so kids don't eat free. He is 8 years old. The beach close by behind the resort is not really for swimming and isn't nice.. I wouldn't go back.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a 2 bed villa at peak season. Having read other recent reviews I would say that they are fairly accurate. My overall view is that it is a great option just 90 minutes drive from Sydney for a family resort get away but if you pay the premium rates (like I did!) you may be disappointed as it falls short on a lot of little things.
Some things I would say to help you plan/decide:
Cleanliness I would say was ok. indoor areas were better than some outdoor areas which seemed a bit neglected.
Only had crockery and cutlery for 4 so constantly washing up/running the dishwasher. My apartment was nice and well set up with lots of space and full kitchen including oven and fridge/freezer (but my friends villa didn't have the freezer).
Vodafone does not work here. Telstra is fine. The internet in my villa worked but no-one knew the right password. It took them too long to resolve and in the end they gave me a telstra "dongle" on my second day. They had forgotten to put the blinds/curtains back up in our villa so in the evening we were quite exposed. Taps were on wrong so had to adjust them to the right position to stop them otherwise they dripped. No major things just annoying stuff that added up.
Our villa no netflix or other modern TV options which I know other villas did have.
Tennis was great and easy to book the court but charged me $20 which I wasn't expecting (unsure if that was court hire or because we borrowed 3 rackets)
Beach is beautiful but very rough and not for swimming - too dangerous.
There are 3 pools. Indoor that you need to book a slot in (due to COVID) which was good for lap swimming. Rock pools which are small and ideal for little kids. Main pool which is great for older kids.
There is a kiosk by the pool which was great in theory but again the detail just wasn't there. It only opened on nice days at 12. When it did open the guy didn't have half the stuff he needed to make our order as it hadn't been stocked apparently. No ice creams had been stocked despite being a hot day and having at least 20 kids around the pool.
This sort of sums up the whole place for me.... it was a great stay and the ideas/infrastructure are all there to make it an exceptional family resort so close to Sydney but it just kept falling short on delivering.
Hope that helps!

We recently stayed for a weekend in a 3 bedroom villa. This resort has so much potential to be a great holiday destination just a short drive from Sydney but having previously stayed here, probably 12 years ago, I found that the villas haven’t changed. 12 years on they are very well worn and in need of a facelift - very worn carpets, blinds and furniture.
Cleanliness was questionable - dust accumulated in the corners of rooms and on light fittings and the lounge and rug in need of a steam clean. The hotel does not provide a daily housekeeping service unless you are prepared to pay extra. They cite this is done for eco reasons. Really? I’m not sure that sending in someone to remake beds and give the villa a general tidy up impacts the environment - I’d suggest this is due to cost savings or staffing issues.
Day spa visit was excellent, breakfast a fairly standard buffet but a hit with the kids after 2 years of COVID putting a stop to buffets. The restaurant is obviously struggling with a current lack of quality staff available as the dinner was very mediocre and the service a little hit and miss.
The kids loved the indoor and outdoor pools. I really hope that the villas will be given a refurbishment as this resort does have a lot to offer for a family getaway.

We stayed in 4- bedroom Beach House there during Covid period.
Hotel gym, sauna /steam room were closed. At the restaurant waiting time was about 25-30 min to get basic coffee/drinks and main dishes were served within one hour (only partly and with multiple mistakes).
Restaurant staff seem not to be ready to provide basic services.
We strongly believe that it would better to stay away from staying and/or dinning there until Covid matters would be resolved or maybe the Management would decide and train their staff to work during current challenging time.
Overall Services of the level of cheap road motel with barking dog 24 hours next door.
also no WiFi signal. Very disappointing stay for 750 AUD rate per night (stayed two nights last week of July).

Breakfast was not included with our stay and the cost of the housekeeping was included in the price.
