So I'll start by saying that very little about this place came as a surprise to me. I did my research prior and I knew not to expect anything luxurious. So the positives first. The Lodges are exactly like the pictures, cute little tropical looking buildings with very nice balconies overlooking the village, mountains in the distance and a bit...

Calibishie welcomes visitors with flowers planted along side the roads. this in itself makes you feel so happy. The Lodge itself makes you even more happy. one thing though, the staff is limited. Looking for a quiet place, then you got it right here at calibishie Lodges

There other places in town trying a lot harder. The staff seemed quiet and unmotivated. My sheets and towels were old and stained. There is no air conditioning and I decided not to use the fan because I genuinely feared that it was going pop off the ceiling and decapitate me.

Was in Calibishi Lodges for four evenings. The second nigth, during dinner, all cash was stolen. Nobody saw anything and I am still awaiting the police to come that, so said the owner, was called by him. At the end we got a discount, probably because of other complaints we had, too much to mention.

100% relaxing. Great food and very friendly staff / owner. From here it is a short walk to the sea. I was lucky in that this location is close to 2 surf spots. It is very quiet and peaceful with a natural surrounding. A 3 minute stroll will take you to a local market for small items or snacks. Clean,...

Peter, Lystra, Laura, and Debra welcomed us for the week and were very welcoming and attentive. The accommodations were adequate, the view great, but the service was exceptional. We were made to feel at home there. What stood out were the dinners each night at the Bamboo restaurant on site. Each night was a culinary masterpiece and tastebud explosion, and...

I cannot say enough about owners Peter and Lystra (and chef Laura and server Debra) for making our stay so enjoyable. They hosted a retreat for Caribbean Lutheran missionaries, which included 5 families from neighbouring islands. The rooms were clean and had ample space. The kitchenette was well supplied for up to 4 people. The view from the balcony was stunning...

What an excellent place to spend your vacation in Dominica. The Calibishie area is a small town, with many amenities for travelers including an ATM, bank, restaurants, bars, and markets. But close enough to the airport and Portsmouth by road. The property sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean and mountains. You couldn't ask for a better view. It has...

Worst airline ever, Liat cancelled flight so resorted to nearby well-rated hotel. Clearly not opened yet but they said they were and accommodated us. Pool was filthy, rooms were buggy, dirty, and had massive not-friendly-looking spiders. No A/C but had fans and screens over window. Plumbing in bathroom didn't work well. Breakfast and lunch not available, however found food short...

We stayed in one of the lodges for one night as our primary hotel had no rooms available. All we can say is thank goodness it was only for one night! As soon as we arrived we got an air of a dying hotel, everything was drab and tired. The room was extremely hot, smelly and stuffy with no air...

“Best rooms in the lodges are the top floor rooms. Another reviewer suggested avoiding the room near the road, though the road is so quiet I do not think it would make much difference. I suspect that the Villa and Apartments are nicer, though I have not seen them. I strongly advise avoiding weekends at the Lodges, unless you can sleep through noise. There is a nightclub just across the road, mainly frequented by locals, which plays the music loud and late, with all the windows open. (The apartments and villa are up the road, so may not be affected.)”

“Beware of considerable exhaust fumes if you stay in the units on the far end, near the road. Also, wi-fi in the rooms on the end, when I stayed last year, just didn't work. Owners were very resistant on this and it was only after they finally brought their own laptop over and did a demo was there a very grudging admission that "the signal is a bit weak".”
