Detailed Reviews
We booked a two night stay at The Marton Arms at the end of July/beginning of August. I can’t fault the location or the staff at all. The problem we had was with the noise at night from what is admittedly a very old building (18th Century I think). The pub is located very near to the Ingleton Falls Trail, within walking distance. A round trip is about 6 miles of superb scenery. It’s also about a 20 minute drive from the Ribblehead Viaduct. You can’t ask for a better location. On arrival, the staff and manager were friendly and engaging. We were shown to the ground floor family room, which had dated decoration and furniture. The room looked nothing like the advertised rooms on their website, but to be fair to them it was clean and we were staying with our pet dog so we didn’t mind really. We had an evening meal at the pub on Friday night. I can recommend the lemon chicken pasta and the veggie Eccles Cakes! We went to be around 10pm after a long day of walking and sight seeing. At around 11pm, the other guests from the upstairs rooms began to retire. I assume, because of the age of the building we could hear every single footstep being taken in the upstairs rooms and on the stairs and in the lobby area outside our bedroom. Things finally settled down around midnight, until someone upstairs needed the loo. It sounded like we were in the room with them when they flushed the chain. Around 5am, other guests were preparing to set off for the day. It sounded like a Roman Legion we’re upstairs, preparing for battle. This went on and on. Unfortunately, we didn’t sleep much at all. At 9am we went into the bar for a cooked breakfast. It was delicious. Unfortunately, the one thing we needed was a good night’s sleep so we took the decision to lose £110 and leave without staying the second night we’d paid for. With Covid and Lockdown, it didn’t feel right to expect our money back. As I said at the start of the review, everything about our stay was great, apart from the one thing we really needed (a good night’s sleep). If we ever went back to the Marton Arms, we’d make sure we asked for an upstairs room. (One final niggle, no doggy treats for our pooch as advertised on their website)

Had a pleasant stay at the Marton Arms on the way to the Lake District. The room was comfortable with a large bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The staff are very helpful and friendly on arrival and throughout the stay.
A cooked to order breakfast in the dining area along with tea, coffee pastries etc
I had booked an evening meal too which was very nice.
There is plenty of parking outside and the area is very quiet.
Would be happy to stay again.

Visited Marton Arms end of August for a dual birthday celebration. Lovely character establishment just outside Ingleton . Heather was an amazing host - I paid for Prosecco and flowers to be put in my girlfriend’s room and Heather organised everything. The room was comfortable and to a high standard and the meal was amazing . I complimented the chef personally the next morning . Also breakfast was beautiful, however felt we were a burden as we had to ask for basics , that had run out , to be replenished . All in all would definitely come again . Ian

It seems that historically The Marton Arms has been a good place to stay and to eat, but that is definitely no longer the case as far as I can see. The restaurant menu is very limited and the food pricey for what is being served up, which is very much on the cheap end of acceptable.
Our room was OK though the mattress was pretty spongey, which is not my preference. The windows had been left wide open which was fine for airing but meant that there were a half dozen flies floating about. When I went to take a shower and tried to adjust the shower head it came off in my hands and I had to push it back in place and not touch it again (should have told management about this). It took a good 5 minutes for the water to run hot.
There is a distinct sense of a staff that are struggling and whose morale is poor: the wait for drinks in the garden on both evenings of our stay was totally ridiculous and we had to battle to convince them on night 2 (after doing the 3 Peaks walk) that we had booked a meal. We took a packed breakfast on walk day, which was reasonable, but the situation on the second morning was shambolic - no side plates to eat croissants/toast from and one plate and several saucers appeared when we asked! We ordered 4 slightly different cooked breakfasts and the first to come out was not what any of us had ordered.....
I was charged for 2 nights on arrival, even though I felt sure I had already paid for one upfront; when I checked on arriving home, sure enough, I had - and a call brought acknowledgement of the fact and a refund. If I hadn't checked?
Overall, I would say that the pub is trading on its previously established reputation but has relinquished any claim to that level of excellence - its approach is unprofessional, unimaginative and the pricing completely unjustified. I suspect that the blame lies squarely with the owner, for a happy and valued, not to mention properly trained, workforce would not allow things to bump along at the very average level of hospitality that you are likely to find here.

Stayed at local campsite and after long walk wanted to call to Marton Arms for a drink. Checked website and states even for a drink you must have a booking. Fair enough so rang several times and not answering calls so emailed as per website to book. No response to emails so called on off chance anyway. We sat in beer garden but everyone just wandered into bar as normal to purchase own drinks. Seperate entry and exits, sanitiser at entrance but people just queued at bar like any normal day. No personal details taken like website insists so feel website states one thing but in reality business as usual. We dont feel safe or confident drinking here again and glad we didnt order food.

We visited here on a Thursday evening and it wasnt particularly busy, we did prebook so was seated right away.
Menu was limited however that may be due to Covid so that's understandable.
I had hummus to start which I enjoyed and my partner had lamb kofta which was blend, literally tasted like a ball of lamb, no seasoning or herbs like kofta is meant to have.
Mains: I had fish and chips which was average. The fish was greasy, batter was blend and the peas were awful. Looked like mushed up frozen garden peas. Chips were lovely.
My partner had the bbq rib burger which looked incredible but tasted was awful. The meat was unseasoned, again but meat. There was some odd pink sauce on it which thought could be baconaise then this odd brown relish 🤷🏼♀️
Onion ring, I love onion rings so I was so excited to see they appeared to be homemade. Again they looked incredible however they weren't, they were blend and undercooked.
We were offered a dessert menu, however our bill was already £55 and we didn't want to waste another penny being dispointed. We opted to drive to the coop, buy a box of magnums and go for a walk ❤️
The only reason I have given this place 2 stars is the staff, they were fab. Very helpful and friendly. Apart from the grumpy, scruffy looking chap who bought us our food, I assumed he was the owner.
The sum up: friendly staff, nice building and decor, food looks incredible but tastes BLEND. I would never eat here again, its overpriced. Go to the local chippy you will get a better meal.

Just a late family lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Cutlery dirty, one of the meals delivered was not as described on menu (and no effort made by staff to rectify the situation), overcharged. Rushed us out as soon as they could despite no great rush of folk. A very, very disappointing visit and would not recommend this place to anyone in the state it is being run at the moment.

My partner and I stayed here on their re-opening weekend and were both very impressed by the fabulous standard of food, both for dinner and breakfast. It’s clear a talented chef is in their kitchen!! All of the staff were really friendly, welcoming and attentive. The restaurant and bar are a lovely place to relax in and I’d imagine cosy in winter with the log burners. The night away was a great deal and would love to visit again. The only niggle was the room either above/below or to the side of us had an extremely loud flushing loo....fine during waking hours but at 3am I thought a plane was coming in to land in our room 🙈 Wouldn’t stop us coming again though. Thankyou for your hospitality 👍🏼

19 friends visited the Marton Arms for a 2 night stay with Evening Meal and no one was disappointed. The rooms were Lovely and comfortable . The breakfast was very good , with good choices and no combination was too much trouble . The evening meals were excellent with some unusual dishes and everyone was catered for. All staff were very friendly and nothing was too much bother for them . This place is a gem and will definitely eat revisited .
Thankyou Heather and all your staff

We can't thank Heather and her team enough for a most enjoyable stay in such a picturesque part of the world. This beautifully presented Country Inn offers comfortable rooms, delicious food in fabulous surroundings all delivered with a smile. Thank you for looking after us so well right down to the lovely pack up breakfasts you prepared for our early start over Yorkshire's Three Peaks. Looking forward to returning in the Summer.

Honestly can’t remember as we were a crowd of musicians and just played music and sang both nights. Sorry, but the landlady is really helpful she will have a definitive answer.
Yess ask Heather on arrival I'm sure she will look after you. Enjoy!
when we were there it was check in 3 pm , check out 11am
Yes dogs are allowed, all the pubs I visited in Ingleton are hog friendly
Sorry I can't really help but I would assume NOT dog friendly in the rooms however as a pub we without a doubt saw dogs in the bar and garden area. Again as others have suggested I would give them a call and ask the question, the landlady is very polite, helpful and friendly. Sorry you are none the wiser from my reply.
