You cant ask for more than this! A perfect environment for burning off the calories with walks in the mountains, returning to a roaring fire and perfect hosts, who had boundless passion to make our stay perfect - and that they did. Superb food, stylish and very comfortable accommodation, delightful surrounds - all of which were rounded off by bonus...

After staying at a hotel for three nights over Christmas, we decided to extend our visit to the Lake District by an extra night so we could enjoy the scenery. Grizedale Lodge was the perfect choice for a beautiful setting, warm welcome, comfortable room and homely lounge with woodburner. The decor is tasteful throughout. While Richard made us feel at...

Debs has chosen all the decor and is also responsible for all the lovely food and her breakfast specials, so I am glad you tried something different while staying here. I am a sculpture and was interested in hiking the sculpture trail at Grizedale Park. So Grizedale Lodge was a wonderful find. It fit perfectly into our schedule since the park and sculpture trails was only a 15 minute walk away. Richard greeted at the door and showed us around. The rooms were very inviting and the living room had...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. There are some lovely sculptures in the forest and well worth searching them out, as you can walk straight from the front door into the forest. The roads can seem narrow when you are not used to them so I always advise everyone to drive especially carefully as you may...

If I were designing my ideal place to stay it would be here. The decor is very tasteful with top quality Morris wallpaper, individual rooms all in a stunning location. Do pre book evening meals, richard and caroline are very welcoming hosts and the food is really really good and the wines reasonably priced.

Thank you for the review and for liking the way Debs (my wife) has decorated the room, not sure where Caroline came from - but don't tell my wife!! Debs is also a great cook and it is often relaxing to come back after a day of adventure and just stay in and enjoy her cooking. All the best Richard

We recently spent three nights at Grizedale Lodge which recommended to me by a work colleague. It was my husbands 50th birthday and he had always wanted to go to the Lake District and we were not disappointed. I contacted the owner Richard after making the booking as I wanted to arrange a bottle of wine in the room on...

What a lovely review - thank you. I am also very grateful to your colleague for the recommendation, I am so pleased we lived up to your expectations. The vegetarian breakfast is becoming more popular, and a regular choice for meat eaters who fancy something different - I hope your husband didn't mean the breakfast was better than yours? I...

Stayed here for 2 nights with my Mum as a base to explore the Lake District. The Lodge is uniquely positioned in the Grizedale Forest and is perfect for walkers or Nature spotting from the comfy guest lounge or balcony. Richard was welcoming and helpful with suggestions of places to eat in Hawkshead. Prior to our arrival we received information...

Thank you for your review. The location is great for exploring the Lake District, being only 8 miles from Ambleside and 24 miles from Keswick. There are often deer around early morning and late evening and so it is always best to drive slowly on the narrow twisty lanes, and a lovely bonus when you spot them. I hope you...

Thank you for your review. Debs has certainly produced a great breakfast menu with many guests trying her vegetarian option, and so far everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it! Had a lovely stay at the Grizedale Lodge, a beautifully renovated country inn. The room was comfortable with a nicely appointed bathroom. Breakfast was outstanding -- probably the best breakfast I had in England. Great coffee and perfectly prepared scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Enjoyed speaking with other travelers seated nearby in the breakfast room. We would definitely return.

This was our first time ever staying at B&B, Richard was so welcoming when we arrived, gave us a tour of the house and brought us a pot of tea and cake, nice and efficient. Breakfast was lovely a nice laid back atmosphere. Amazing location with views of forest and we liked sitting on balcony watching the birds.
