We were self catering and so whilst we can’t comment on the food, the menu looked quite inviting with a different theme every night.
There are a number of different local restaurants however that do the most delicious food, again with many different options.
We were initially placed in room 007 and whilst this was great for novelty value, it soon became apparent that this room was not going to help us have the rested holiday that we have worked hard for.
The bus stop right outside the room gets going approx 6am with workers, school children and chatty parents, then queues of people throughout the day making use of the regular, reliable bus service!
We expressed our concerns to the magnificent Vanesa (one s 😉) who without much question found us another room the other side of reception. Whilst this was still next to the road, it was sunken down slightly, so the noise was much less and although you still wouldn’t want to sit on your balcony, it was a better room all round! (007 had a mug missing, little bugs in the kitchen, the toilet made noise all night, and of course the bus stop)!
The hotel has a reasonable gym, Spa pool and daily classes/activities for those who like to continue their fitness on holiday.
Also some really lovely walks down to the little fishing village of Los Abrigos.
I’m not a massive fan of lots of English people all together, as I don’t think we represent very well in other countries! This is an area where a lot of English people seem to live, but it wasn’t awful and is far enough away (at the same time close enough to) Los Christianos & Americas if you like that sort of place.
Highly recommend paying the lady who books the excursions in the place next to the hotel, a trip up to Teide is a must, but also Siam Water Park! It claims to be Trip Advisor #1 in the world, and I have to say, as sceptical as I was, it was absolutely friggin fantastic!
We stayed 4 nights 5 days arriving early on Sunday and leaving early on Thursday.
My review is 50-50 this hotel has had its pros and it’s cons. By far this is not the worst hotel we have stayed in but definitely not the best.
We stayed in standard studio and there’s a few things to point out. We stayed in room 39.
The rooms are tired and outdated granted however still stay able they consist of a generous room with 2 single beds, dining table and small kitchen.
We was all inclusive so this wasn’t much use to us but handy for a few drinks for the evening.
The bad points the studios are all ground floor away from the pool area so facing the main road. Our neighbour moved as they were in 007 and consistently woken at 4/5am by the bus stop outside there room.
The 2nd bad point is they all tiled!!! Which in January as not the warmest it was FREEZING at night and early morning.
The food was mediocre. There was some days good and some days bad. First day lunch was not enjoyable and The food wasn’t always warm either but definitely a mix as they have themed nights which if I am honest could be better they had a Chinese theme night which apart from prawn crackers and spring rolls not much Chinese food however on Indian night smashed it as the curry was gorgeous!!!.
Breakfast was by far the best we have had in all the hotels abroad as they actually had a proper sausages and variant on eggs - poached, boiled and scrambled which is a big thing for me as I don’t eat bacon.
One of the bad points is entertainment they have an indoor bar and no outdoor entertainment. They had karaoke night, snake night but nothing to just sit down relax to some music and be able to do your own thing.
Me and my other half like to sit down play some cards and enjoy a few drinks which wasn’t doable as the seating was less than uncomfortable! Not able to go outside with any drinks and was limited!!
The all inclusive was again lacking during the day. The pool bar was away from the pool area, only opened at 11:30 and closed by 18:30. And the snacks again questionable.
In the local area there is a handy shop right next door which sells alcohol, hygiene and food products with souvenirs and there is a free shuttle bus to p. America’s which is highly recommended for your shopping and souvenirs. It’s a full day trip but well worth it.
Overall I would give 5 out of 10.
Where do I start? We stayed in the studio apartment No 003. Walls and ceiling full of shoe marks.TV remote control taped up, falling apart every time you take in your hand. The bed is two single mattresses(disgusting , stained) pushed together instead of a double mattress. The room is next to the bus stop so if you have a window open and the bus arrives you can't hear the TV. Every evening there is a loud noise from the entertainment room. Wi-Fi costs 5 euros a day and you can use only for one device. We asked to buy for 4 days - the answer was you can buy only for a day, 3 days or a week. Parking costs 5 euros a day. The concierge service was cold and not welcoming. The overall experience was more like a cheap motel stay, very outdated with no style. Only nice thing in the hotel was the pool. Stay away You definitely can find much better places for a better price.
Housekeeping is excellent and the restaurant WOW such a variety of different dishes with so much flavour you are absolutely spoilt for choice, if you like puddings please try the Spanish rice it is so dreamy. And now the Entertainment which l have left till last as there is so much to say. Miguel and Graziano are two guys that organise the entertainment(Animacion), they both have super voices and you will see them in the Piano bar of an evening organising the Karaoke, Bird shows, Flamenco, Magic shows, they also put on live music shows in the evening. And during the day you will find them around the pool organising all sorts of different games for your entertainment so please join in you will love it, they are both super guys and work very hard to give you a super holiday. So if you are thinking about a holiday to Tenerife l urge you please go to Grand Muthu Golf Plaza you will not be disappointed
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment.rooms are although dated spacious, and clean, our kitchen was locked on arrival as we stayed all inclusive,I was fine with that as we still had a fridge and coffee maker in our room, but i did over hear another guest complain about his being locked and had booked self catering so beware of extra charges to use the kitchen.
wifi is free to use but poor in our room we could use it to check emails etc but thats all,the HDMI Port in our Tv was also disabled so we could not use a firestick on our rainy day.
The staff are lovely big shout out to Jessica i think she was called on reception, always greeted us with a smile, very friendly, nothing too much bother for her.
The food in the buffet was average, the grilled meats are nice but we did struggle to put together a nice meal, more needs to be done to protect the food from flies (covers etc) as you dont really fancy pancakes for breakfast when you have just watched flies crawling all over it. I dont know why but flies when we stayed were an issue you could not sunbathe in peace without them constantly landing on you they were relentless as soon as you had swatted them away they were straight back we had to go and buy a fly repellent to spray ourselves with, but maybe we were unlucky and there was a reason why more flies when we stayed.
The themed food nights were all lovely we really enjoyed these much prefer these to the buffet,we had Mexican,BBQ,Italian, and Indian, book these as soon as you arrive as they book up fast.
The entertainment team are really friendly they play games round the pool and provide evening entertainment.
Towels are 25 euro to hire each for your stay and refunded when returned.
I would also like to recommend JB CAR HIRE TENERIFE i found them on Fb we wanted to hire a car and no one had one available the couple that did were trying to charge 100 euro a day JB charged us 55 euro and picked us up from the hotel excellent service highly recommend,
I would personally say this hotel is more suitable for elderly, retired couples.
The hotel is very quiet but if like us your just looking for some winter sun,and like to get out and about then your be ok.
the hotel could so benefit from a bar in the lobby that would make a huge difference especially for the younger generation as the piano bar had a old vibe about it and was not for us.
We did enjoy our stay but would we stay here again ...... Probably not for us
• Don’t stay here unless the limitations of aircraft noise are acceptable to you !
We are not golfers, and although the resort has a “golf” focus we enjoyed lovely coastal walks to Los Abrigos, and the harbour at Playa San Miguel de Abona locally where plenty of local café / bar / restaurants ply their trade.
As we were interested in seeing the areas more widely, we enjoyed a boat trip to La Gomera, which was fab, as well as a trip up Mount Teide and the spectacular volcanic landscape near the mountain. We were disappointed that our stargazing trip to Mount Teide was cancelled due to the weather, but we did enjoy time at the natural history museum in the capital Santa Cruz, as well as its Palemetum (Palm tree Botanic Garden) and the peaceful tree lined streets near Plaza de Espana in the centre of town. Also the spectacular mountains to the north east of the island over to Parque Rural de Anaga were amazing if you could cope with the difficult driving and the mist and rain. Overall a great location to enjoy the variety of experiences that Tenerife can offer
