We stayed here for 2 nights on a self-drive tour from Durban, with the visit to the Zulu battlefields being the highlight of our trip and we were not let down. The drive to Isandlwana is an experience, 9km of dirt road, but it is worth it! The welcome from Shane and his team was warm and friendly and our...

This is a place unlike any other. It sparks the imagination and inspires one to learn more. I visited Isandlwana twice in the span of three months with two different groups of friends and thoroughly enjoyed each trip. The hotel's stunning location as it overlooks the battlefields makes for truly magnificent experience. If you have any interest at all in...

we had a very interesting trip to the battlefields with great story teller, Dalton who was standing in for Rob Gerrard. He is a bit difficult to understand and could do with a few props but it was interesting. The rooms are great but the food was a little disappointing (breakfast was the best, dinner unimaginative). The bar service is...

If you are doing a battlefields tour then we can thoroughly recommend Isandlwana Lodge. The location is stunning and the rooms and amenities excellent. All the staff are super friendly, great food and you really feel looked after. The resident historians Rob and Dalton are amazing. We were lucky to have Dalton do both Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift with us...

We had the most unforgettable stay at this very special place. Its location is unique - hewn into the cliff face and facing the battlefield. The rooms are amazing and they each have the most incredible view. We loved the hot water bottles that were placed in our bed each night! The food was really great for a lodge that...

We enjoyed 3 nights at the Lodge and were so sorry to leave. Unusually, I think, we did not choose the Lodge because of its Anglo-Zulu wars connection - we just wanted to stay somewhere in the area as we travelled to the Imfolozi game park at the coast. With three children, we didn't plan on taking any of the...

Weekend spent touring the battlefields and the lodge was simply phenomenal. Staff were professional eager to please and very friendly. Bongi our server the last night was so wonderfully engaging and really went out of her way to interact. The view is one that cannot be missed as it overlooks the battlefield completely and cannot be matched. It is a...

How wonderful to sit just above the battlefield and let your imagination see this dramatic event. Shane was such a perfect host and Paul our guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the Zulu/Boer wars but it seems that there is little of the history of the last 200 years that he is not very well informed about. He is...

We stayed at the Lodge for 2 nights in March 2015 and it really is simply the best. We went to visit the battlefield sites and found it an excellent choice for our visit. Perched on the hillside overlooking Isandlwana, the Lodge is beautifully appointed. We stayed in the Cetshwayo Room, which had splendid views over Islandlwana and believe all...

For history buffs regarding the Anglo Zulu War of 1879 this establishment cannot be surpassed . From the sensational views of the Battlefield , to the excellently presented staff , and the wonderfully passionate live in Guide , ( Rob ) , are only surpassed by the 5 star food service , which is a magnificent effort , considering in...
