We traveled to Amora for a restful break and that’s just what we got!
The booking, check-in and check-out were all handled quickly and efficiently by the Amora staff.
We had a Deluxe Courtyard Queen room on the Bridge Road side of the hotel but heard no noise whatsoever; it was a spacious room with a bed, couch, side table, desk and footrest beautifully set out so we could just relax and enjoy.
The bathroom was quite roomy although the toilet should have been located a little further from the bath as the toilet paper holder was extremely difficult to access when seated.
I’m sure there are rooms without baths and we would have preferred one because it was difficult to get in and out when showering when you have even minor movement issues (so be sure to remember that when booking if you have physical ailments).
There is a reasonably sized bar fridge, milk provided for hot drinks and a nice selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate - which really impressed me.
The towels were lovely and large, toiletries provided and good water pressure.
We bought our dinner at Fisherboy Fish & Chips just up Bridge Road; they are the best around.
Brought them back to the hotel and ate them on our balcony (we brought disposable cutlery and dishes with us as only mugs, cups and saucers and glasses are provided in the rooms).
The breakfast options are all tasty and excellent quality; we had toast, fruit salad, an omelette and French toast and were more than satisfied by the serving sizes.
Our fruit juice and hot chocolates were perfect too.
There are also pastry options, croissants and muffins if you can manage them!
Car parking is available on site and we have never had any issues.
All in all a very peaceful and pleasant stay with friendly and helpful staff.
Being so close to the city makes Amora the perfect place to stay for sporting events, concerts, theatre productions or appointments as the tram stops outside the door of Amora.
Highly recommend!

The Amora Hotel Riverwalk is a stylish hotel located conveniently on Bridge Rd in Richmond. The rooms are large, clean, well decorated and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent and the staff could not have been more friendly or courteous. We will certainly be back. Frank.

This is the second time we have stayed here the first time was fantastic and couldn’t fault anything. This time we had noisy people next door had to ring reception at 2.30am to tell them to keep quiet loud music and having a party. The next morning we saw a big dog in the room with them. The second night there was no loud music but the kept coming in and out and banging doors.
Breakfast was ok. Staff were great.
I know noisy people can happen in any hotel but I thought staff would have been aware of the dog. If they allow animals into the hotel we will consider staying in another place next time.

Dear Retired 2156, Thank you for taking the time to review the Amora Hotel Riverwalk after your recent stay. I apologise that your stay was not 100% & that other guests interrupted your stay. Dogs (Except seeing Eye dogs) are not allowed to stay at all. Our staff are aware of this & I will further reinforce this policy to them. If other guests are noisy, please call reception (we are available 24 hrs) (as you did). Our staff should have made more of an effort to get the room to quieten down. We should also have offered you a room move. Again I apologise that your stay was not great. We would love to get you back into the hotel & I will ensure that you receive a complimentary upgrade. Pleae contact me direcly & we will make a booking. I am confident that we can meet & even exceed your expectations. Yours Sincerely Tim Bilston General Manager

Whilst I acknowledge that a major renovation was being done it did leave a view of a builders site and dust on balcony.

However my greater concern was the Happy Hour and the $25 room voucher. Very unclear as to process . You could go for the happy hour drink discount but not use the the $25 voucher for drinks and food. We got the staff to do both calculations at the end and one figure was $114 or $159 but wht we weren't told was GST had to added to the bill. Staff could not explain it thoroughly.

Buffet breakfast has dropped a notch as well.

We book in once or twice a year and this time booked 2 rooms for family so we had $50 of voucher.

The Amora is in a great location, within walking distance to the restaurants, cafes, bars, and pubs along Bridge Road. We stayed in a room with a balcony and a view of the Yarra River. It has a very spacious entrance, friendly helpful staff, and the breakfast included in our deal was just great. We will definitely stay again and again.

As I said earlier, the hotel lost its special grand feel. It looks cheap now, depressing colours, uncomfortable furniture, poor use of art work. The staff are great, the position is exceptional, the rooms are good size yet the bed was small and uncomfortable. I am sadden by the changes to the hotel, I won’t be back.

The Amora is centrally located to eateries, bars, street shopping and public transport.
My Husband and I stayed at the Amora Richmond to visit family, booking a fantastic Black Friday special that including car parking.
Our room, a deluxe queen balcony, had plenty of space, very clean and in a quiet location.
Staff very attentive, polite and friendly.
We will definitely stay again when returning to Richmond

We returned to stay at the Amora Hotel on New Years Eve. The hotel had recently completed renovations which were being done on our last stay. We expected to be welcomed back warmly, however that certainly wasn't the case. The reception staff were very off hand, like they were doing a favour to check us in. Trying not to feel disappointed we went to our room which actually was the same as our last visit. We proceeded to go out for the evening returning around 1am. The noise from rooms nearby was extremely loud, shouting, doors banging , in general partying etc. Eventually we managed to get to sleep only to be awoken at 6am with our neighbours still partying, unbelievable! Surely hotels have a time limit when a quiet time should be ensured for the sake of the other guests, well not this hotel. I sent an email to the manager expressing my disappointment and feelings however I was not even given the courtesy of a reply. Many other guests were complaining at breakfast saying they had tried to contact reception during the night but to no avail. In the past we have recommended our friends from interstate to stay at this hotel, that will certainly no longer be the case.

We have stayed twice this month for a total of 5 nights and found the Amora a well positioned, clean comfortable hotel in a good position with plenty of restaurants nearby and not far from Melbourne’s CBD with a tram stop right outside the front door. A la carte breakfast was great and the buffet breaky that has only just been reinstated was adequate but nothing startling. I would recommend it as good value for a 4 star hotel

OK hotel in very good location in Richmond. Short tram ride to city. Bike and walk paths very close by. Hotel nearly finished renovations. Hotel quite dark inside. Rooms of a very good standard. Very disappointed in the food offerings, both in Bistro and casual. One entree of scallops was very measly, although tasty, consisted of 4 small scallops at charge of $19.50!! Had fish & calamari and vegetables fried as a tasting dish. No calamari!! Batter was very oily. Hardly eatable. Breakfasts just passed the muster, not worth the price they charge. Would not at this hotel.

Hi. Is this hotel 30 minutes from the airport? How much would a taxi cost? Any ideas please?
Answer from treimer2018

The Amora would be roughly 40-50 min from Tullamarine Airport. This is fairly standard for Melbourne because the airport is in the outer suburbs. Taxi fare would be approx. AUD$70-80 traffic depending. Hope this helps.

I totally agree with what has been said by both "rmp333" & "timmahone". The management will, I am sure, try to adhere to your request. I have stayed with them twice and both times I had no issues with them on any matters.
