We had a wonderful stay at the very nice lodge, and enjoyed the tranquility here, as it is 2 km from the busy town of Puerto Lopaz. Our room was very comfortable, overlooking the ocean, and enjoyed the scenery. We only had a double size bed, and would have enjoyed a queen size. We were the only guests here for... More

Enjoyed 3 nights in room 11 as part of an independent 17 day tour of Northern Ecuador - based luckily just outside Puerto Lopez (about 2km South) which gave you peace from any city noise. Our room (adequate ceiling fans) had its own balcony over looking the sea and some scrub land - had 2 chairs but lacked a table.... More

We've spent there 3 days. It's on the hill with very enchanting view. We saw even whales:) The staff were very helpful and friendly. Interesting buildings-environmental friendly. Of course, to manage that kind of buildings is not easy but they make good job, in our opinion! One recommendation is to have more variety of food for breakfast.

The reviews that say Mantaraya Lodge is a little run down are not incorrect. Compared to what we saw in Peurto Lopez, however, we thought it was a pretty nice place. We paid for a hotel car and driver from Guayaquil and we're glad we did. The car was a little small, but the driver made it an enjoyable, safe... More

On first inspection, we - myself and my parents - were a bit concerned about this property, as there seemed to be quite a few repairs needed, and the noise from the nearby road could be heard. However, we soon forgot about these, and were able to enjoy the location and relaxed atmosphere for the 3 nights we were here.... More

The building is full of cracks, paint has fallen of and the furniture should have been replaced years ago. The rooms are unhealthy.
