It was comfortable. As other reviewers mentioned they do seem to have many issues. We ran out of tap water in the morning. They had no wine, no choice in beer, many items missing off of the menu. On the other hand they cooled out beer & wine without a fuss. Wifi worked just fine in the lobby area. The... More

This fairly large establishment is not old, but slightly deteriorated and quite isolated. The rooms are large and comfortable with local antenna TV. It's certainly a quiet and tranquil place, perhaps the economical location closest to Calacmul.

Oddly reminiscent of that Eagles song, 'Hotel California', this hotel was almost frightening in its emptiness and isolation and air of dereliction. Two women hung out at the reception, one of whom was watching a video on youtube and took no notice of us whatsoever when we arrived. The other greeted us and sent us to a room faraway that... More

This is a big hotel, but there were hardly any guests, so there was nothing open in the hotel, no lounge chairs at the pool, when we first arrived I thought the place was closed. I don't know if it's always like this or if we visited at the wrong time, it was a weird feeling haveing such a big... More

This is a good option as a base to explore calakmul. However the cleanliness of the rooms and hotel is below average and the device is bad. We came in high season so maybe that is why they were over weakened. Bad internet and only in the lobby. Pool is ok but cold. Food is not very good. There are... More

Looks like an abandoned Club Med. Many rooms, huge public areas and dining room. We were the only people there. Old sheets and towels. Dirty, stained toilet seat installed on newer toilet. A sign in 4 languages asking guests to save water hangs next to the leaky faucet. Don't be surprised if a tarantula visits your room. Bad TV reception.... More

I paid less than $60 for a night just for the next day trip to Calakmul. I agree it's not a resort and lacks services as others mentioned. But comparing what you pay at Chicanna Ecovillage, it's not really a bad choice if you want to spend a night in Xpujil. Wi-fi is only available in the lobby and you... More

We stayed at this hotel on a roadtrip through the Yucatan to see ruins. We had intended to stay at the Chicanna Ecovillage, but when we saw this hotel along the highway, we stopped. A mistake! By the end of our stay we were laughing because we felt NO hotel could honestly be this bad. The lobby is huge and... More

We were a large group with advance reservations, booked to stay two nights. Our experience the first night was so bad that we left the next morning. When our group tried to eat in the restaurant the service was so bad that some received food after 45 minutes, some after 1:30 hours and some after 2 hours. Others never got... More

Although this hotel is conveniently located central to most Rio Bec archeological sites, particularly Calakmul, do not stay here. I have traveled trhoughout the entire Yucatan and have never had a more disappointing hotel experience. Never. The staff are utterly indifferent. I suspect the hotel is a front for another 'business'. My group was booked for two nights, only stayed... More
