Stayed overnight at Ashdale last night. Cant speak highly enough about this lovely B&B. Lindy and Barry were lovely, genuine and friendly. Couldn't do enough. It is not hard to see whey this B&B has received a tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence. No need to write a book here. All I need to say is excellent room (includes Video and DVD library), cleanliness, location and helpfulness of the owners. Can't remember when we last had such a great and varied breakfast. Stay, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I had a 4 night stay at the Ashdale starting on August 1st. We were made very welcome from the off. Our motorbikes were safely stored at night at the rear of the property and both owners were more than helpful with where we should visit during our stay. We had room 2 which had a very...

Myself and my partner recently stayed and have nothing but good things to say about the guest house itself and Lindy and Baz its owners. The welcome was warm and friendly and the accommodation was clean and comfortable., even having a secure courtyard where we could leave our motorbike. The food was excellent with a wide range of cereals, fruit,...

Barry & Lindy were both very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, always happy to assist in finding locations of days out and places to visit. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Room was comfortable but could benefit from a bit of D.I.Y. Breakfasts were delicious with as much variety as you ever need. All in all a pleasant stay.

I have spent 3 nights in this beautiful B&B, and it felt like going from my home in Malta, to another home in Matlock Bath. I felt very comfortable here and the hosts (Barry and Lindy) were perfect. They helped us getting around the town and giving us advise on the bus rides as well as the best attractions around....

This was one of our stops on the Derwent Valley Heritage Way and we were so glad we'd booked this wonderful Guest House. Arriving somewhat dishevelled, we were warmly welcomed by Barry and Lindy. Nothing was too much trouble - a very friendly couple who had lots of recommendations for us, including the Pie Night taking place that evening! Our...

I booked this B&B for a family stay. As I had made the booking about 6 months in advance I was told that I couldn't book one night I had to book both the Friday and Saturday night. Having done this I was disappointed to find out that everyone else who stayed there had been able to book just one...

We are upset by your damning review. The only weekend we insist on a two-night minimum stay are the firework display nights and Bank Holidays. Going by the 2012 dates, 28th Sept 2013 would have been a night with a firework display, so, when you booked, we explained this to you. When the dates were announced, we contacted everyone who...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our house was built in 1847, is early Victorian, built in the Georgian style in the centre of the village of Matlock Bath which was developed as a spa. There are still some natural thermal springs and a petrifying well. There are four spacious en-suite rooms, three of which are family rooms. A cot is available. All rooms have access to wireless broadband, TV kettle etc. The house is situated immediately opposite the Victorian Jubilee bridge, which is a footbridge over the River Derwent. This bridge gives access to walks, an informal riverside park with childrens play area and attractive fountains and pools. There are walks up by the river and up the wooded hillside to extensive all-round views. Within walking distance are Gulliver's Kingdom (Childrens theme park), Cable Cars to Heights of Abraham, (where you can visit to old lead mines), the Museum and Aquarium with the petrifying well, the Mining Museum, and an assortment of restaurants and pubs with regular live music. Masson Mills (shopping village and museum in Arkwright's historic mill) is 10 minutes walk and there are many small, interesting shops both in Matlock Bath, and within nearby Matlock & Cromford. ... more   less
