We stayed here for a few days as a little treat, when I called to make the booking I was offered a special rate (bargain) When we arrived we were shown into the guest lounge that was very warm and homley. When Rodger showed us our room ( very clean and was a very comfy bed) he explained everything very...

A big thanks to Roger and Maureen for a lovely two night stay. Food was excellent - spoilt for choice with the breakfast menu which includes a gluten free option. The evening meal was top notch and wish we'd chosen to eat in both nights as it was of a far superior quality than the other meals we had out....

Having read the other reviews before writing mine I wondered what more can be said about a stay at the Cables that hasn’t already been said and far more eloquently than I could ever hope to write. Roger is like your best friend if your best friend is Jamie Oliver or Michel Roux Jr. I have never been made as...

Eight of us arrived to celebrate mum's 70th birthday 2/6/12, age range 7-70. Home from home, log fire burning, lovely bedrooms, fab lounge with everything you need even a laptop. Roger & Maureen couldn't have been more welcoming. Very thoughtful in decorating mum & dads bedroom with rose petals on the bed, banners & balloons. Our 7yr old of the...

Our two evenings at The Cables were great experiences, with Roger's enthusiastic and friendly personality ensuring that we enjoyed our visits. Having welcomed us with a pot of tea and a coffee cafetiere our evening meal was ordered, prepared and presented in a style more appropriate to a quality restaurant than a guest house with three rooms. A good night's...

We've recently returned from spending 3 nights here. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed homemade cake and tea on arrival. The room was very homely - very clean and with everything you could possibly need. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent with plenty of choice, all homecooked by Roger. Location was ideal for exploring the area. We...

I would like to extend my thanks to Roger and Maureen for their help and generosity when my friends and I experienced difficulties in the nearby river Derwent. Having had our kayaks overturned in the swollen river, my friends and I were in real need of help. I was one of the last to emerge from the water after 20...

Myself and a group of friends were in the area on an outdoors-y stag weekend and were canoeing down the river when our canoe capsized. We were lucky enough to end up over the road from this lovely little B&B, and the owners, Roger and Maureen, were simply amazing to us! Not only did they offer us a place to...

Firstly I have to say that our group of 10 close friends did not have the pleasure of staying at the Cables B&B overnight. However we were fortunate enough to experience the incredibly warm and welcoming hospitality that the patrons offered to us in what really was our hour of need. 10 men, high on life and the enjoyment of...
