My partner and I recently stayed at the hotel for a quick birthday getaway. The hotel is ideally situated between Matlock Bath and Matlock, both places are easily walkable. We were lazy and grabbed a taxi. We couldn't fault the hotel staff, they were very helpful and attentive. I would highly recommended this hotel and I would certainly stay here...

We stayed here for the night over May bank holiday. We stayed in the superior room with ensuite shower which was amazing. We had views of the mountain which we climbed As suggested by reception. We then walked into the town which was nice and busy. Check in was 3pm which was ok, as we walked around for most the...

Just returned home from an overnight stay at The High Tor Hotel. We had a superior room, which was lovely. Very clean, decorated nicely and with a HUGE bath. Check in was easy and the man on reception was friendly and efficient. We had an evening meal in the hotel at night and it was delicious. The staff were very...

The room looked lovely, although a smell developed by the third day. We suspect the carpet had been soiled in some way at some point, and had not been cleaned thoroughly enough to remove the residual smell. It was tolerable, but only for the brief duration of our stay as it was worsening. Also - it was very expensive for...

Thank you for your comments, all reviews are helpful. I wish you had brought it to my attention on departure about the residual smell and not 6 days later as now I am unable to trace any smell in that room. We would have taken your comment extremely seriously if you had mentioned it on departure. On checking with my...

£115 is far too expensive for a night in February for quite a small double room & this didn't include breakfast! maybe in peak season but this room was not worth this amount. It's very nice & a beautiful location but needs to be realistic with room charges & we were awake all night with rattling/banging Windows!!

My second visit to this beautiful hotel. I didn't think it could get any better but it has! Luxurious rooms, warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. Staff very attentive, couldn't do enough for us and the best full English breakfast we've ever had. Highly recommended

Only stayed one night, but good quality clean accommodation with a giant bath. Good breakfast with an interesting menu, with cold meat, cheese, fruit buffet. Friendly staff let us book in early. Would stay again.

We stayed 2 nights for NYE, we were in room 8 at the top, small but perfectly formed, very clean and comfortable. We took a bottle of champagne to see in the new year, & when they did room service they left us 2 wine glasses, very thoughtful! It was very quiet in the room which was great for us....
